Out of the Box: New Chrysler 300
Sunday January 11, 2004
In a throwback to earlier times, DaimlerChrysler is taking some risks with its two new mid-size sedans, the Chrysler 300 (shown here) and the Dodge Magnum. The tall, boxy cars are as far as you can get from the cab forward designs of the past decade, including a switch to rear-wheel-drive and an optional V-8 Hemi engine. The Chrysler 300 is handsomely equipped inside and promises outstanding performance from the 340 hp Hemi-powered 300C. A number of Mercedes components are used, which is a plus. I wonder, though, whether the muscular styling can stimulate positive emotions among a public now accustomed to sleek aerodynamic shapes.

Many, many years ago,I bought a toyota celica, one of the first in the UK.
I was derided and ridiculed for buying Japanese rubbish(and this at a time when British cars, would not start if the weather was wet,,,dry,,,hot,,,or cold)
I think that I am ahead of the game again,I have bought a 300c,,3.5 litre petrol wonderfull machine.
Thank you very much Chrysler.
If you would like some of an owners comments, they are————
(1) Keep raiding the Mercedes parts bin for all the bits under the floor and attatched to the wheels.
(2) That 3.5 petrol engine is a dream,I know in Europe, the bean counters will say to go with the diesel, and from a bean counters perspective, they may be correct, but,,,,,that 3.5 is perfect for giving out the torque and the speed just when you need(or want)it,,,that is between 70 mph and 115 mph
