Buick LaCrosse Bows at Chicago Show
Thursday February 5, 2004
The Chicago Auto Show was the setting for Buick to unveil its new mid-size car, the LaCrosse. It replaces both the Century and Regal. Thank you, Buick, for returning curves and flowing design back to the auto world... possibly at the insistence of GM car czar Bob Lutz, who brought design to a screeching halt in order to make styling changes that delayed development by 11 months. Not only is the LaCrosse graceful, it represents a new level of quality in which Buick is determined to match Lexus, at a lower price. Top engine is a 3.6 liter four-cam V-6 that delivers 240 hp, though the ancient pushrod V-6 comes with base models. It's great to see Buick focusing on cars again, as it did 100 years ago.
