Review: Dodge SRT-4, Fast and Furious
Monday February 9, 2004
Cute as a canary when it arrived and eager to say "hi" the Neon, now badged as a Dodge, is, as they say, getting long in the tooth. Styling updates are not enough as the competition brings out new and innovative products. So, anxious to re-ignite the passion and aware of how young buyers are customising used sport compacts for appearance and performance, Dodge has released a hot-rodded Neon called the SRT-4. With a turbocharged 230 hp 2.4-liter four under its bonnet, it can blow most cars off the road. Trouble is, as Robert Bowden writes in his test drive, the SRT-4 is a "quickie makeover without the modern touches." Still, it's fun to drive and a "great bang for the buck."
