A Modern Classic Convertible?
Monday June 21, 2004
There was a small street fair in my hometown over the weekend. Among the trinkets and ubiquitious sausage & peppers stands (not to mention all-fruit smoothies) there was a line-up of classic and not-so-classic cars (I like the Volvo 240 line as much as the next guy but I'm not sure it's a classic). There was only one stand out. The 1964 Lincoln Continental. What a beauty. A four-door convertible with suicide doors, no less. It got me thinking, what convertible of today is going to stand out like that? Our expert tester Robert Bowden recently tested the gorgeous Chrysler Crossfire roadster and while it remains to be seen if it will become a classic down the road, for today it sure is a looker.
