1-Series Not Headed to U.S.
Monday June 28, 2004
BMW has announced their new 1-Series and their aggressive sales goals: 100k a year, starting in 2005. As you can see, the new 1-Series grabs some of the design cues from the stylish Z4 and it's quite a looker. And it will be affordable (starting under $25k). Where do I sign up? Oh, the fine print: The U.S. won't see the 1-Series until maybe 2007. Oh the horrors! Just because BWM's 318ti didn't sell well doesn't mean that small BMWs aren't wanted here. I hope BMW takes another look at their Mini Cooper sales figures (on an upward trend) and sees that, yes, small cars can sell well. Bob Schulties
