Cars We Wish We Could Buy: Peugeot 1007
Tuesday July 6, 2004
Peugeot doesn't sell cars in North America, which is too bad, for the French giant makes class-leading products. One we wish Peugeot would sell is pictured here. It pushes the envelope on small car design, with features that maximise interior space. For example, the doors, one on each side, slide back and forth electrically, remote-controlled by the key fob. This makes access in tight spots easier and parking more convenient. The 1007 is a full 4-seater, but the rear seats move independently or can be removed for long loads. Customisable interior trim comes in 12 owner-replaceable variations. Two gas and one diesel engines are offered, with a 4-speed automatic that can also be operated as a sequential manual. The 1007 will have up to seven airbags. Official launch will be the Paris Auto Show in September.
