California Sets New Auto Standards to Fight Global Warming
Saturday September 25, 2004
In a move that automakers say will restrict sales of large sport-utes and high-performance sports cars, California is introducing new fuel economy regs aimed at the threat of global warming. Seven Eastern states, including New York, are expected to follow suit. Automakers call this the most challenging demand since the 1970's (though it will be phased in over 11 years, which certainly gives the industry plenty of time to adapt). Expect the possibility of legal challenges and attempts by the Bush administration to block the new regulations.

Al Gore and Micheal Moore win in California! Let’s all drive Pruises and paint them green. Tell Babs to junk her SUV, and walk. Di Caprio will save the world. But please don’t be a Moore-on.
