The General is wheelin' and dealin'

If you haven't already heard, General Motors is now offering its employee discount to the general public, and will continue to do so through July 5th. The general concensus is that this is a sign of desperation, and I'm inclined to agree. Guess that strategy of concentrating on truck and SUV production didn't work out so well after all. Shame, because GM's been turning out some great cars lately. Among our favorites here at About Cars: The surprisingly capable Chevrolet Cobalt, the zippy Pontiac G6, and the homely-but-handy Chevrolet Malibu Maxx. And don't forget that Saab is a GM division, which means the potential for good deals on the 9-2 wagon and the 9-3 coupe and convertible.
