Test drive: 2006 Subaru WRX STi
Saturday October 1, 2005
My friend Joe has been waiting patiently for his WRX's warranty to run out. Now that it has, he's ready to play: New wheels and tires, new suspension gear on the way, and I believe he's researching the most diabolical way to boost the engine's output as far into the stratosphere as possible. Joe loves his WRX, and who can blame him? His morning commute is a blend between a man driving to work and a kid playing with his favorite toy car. For 2006, Subaru has launched an improved version of the WRX and its more powerful brother, the STi, with lots of improvements to the bits that make power and deliver it to the ground. Colin "Some-Guys-Get-All-The-Luck" Hefferon, who by all accounts is a 12-year-old boy gleefully trapped in an adult's body, got to take the new STi for a proper flogging -- a fact of which which most of us other 12-year-old boys here at About Cars are insanely jealous. Check out the lucky bastard's test report here. --Aaron Gold
