Test drive: 2006 Honda Civic

Friday December 2, 2005
2006 Honda Civic sedanHonda is, by and large, a pretty conservative company. They know a good thing when they have it, and they don't change it much. So that's what makes the all-new 2006 Civic such a pleasant surprise: They really transformed the character of the car, making it more of a mini-Accord than a simple follow-on to the outgoing Civic. And while it may seem like the sporty Civics of yore are gone -- let's face it, the last iteration of the Civic Si was something of a disappointment -- Honda has turned up the juice with an all-new 190 horsepower Civic Si, which we'll cover in an upcoming article. As goeth Civic, so goeth the small-car market, and the new 2006 Honda Civic is blocks ahead of the competition. My prediction: Look for huge changes in small cars over the next few years. -- Aaron Gold
