Touring Vancouver in the 2007 Honda Fit
Greetings, yet again, from Vancouver, and a belated Happy Father's Day. We spent the day being carted around by Colin Hefferon in a 2007 Honda Fit, and I discovered why he's so fond of the thing. While many superminis such as the Scion xB give you a choice between rear seat room and trunk room, the Fit has a nice balance of space for both. With four of us on board, the Fit still had plenty of power for nipping in and out of traffic. One thing I didn't care for was the use of cheap, thin plastics in the cargo compartment; the Fit Colin was driving had what looked like years of scratches, gouges and scars despite being just a few months old.
Today Robin and I are setting off for Whistler, a ski resort about two hours or so to the north. If the good weather holds out, we should get some spectacular views of the city. Our ride is a bright red MAZDASPEED 6, the turbocharged all-wheel-drive version of Mazda's mid-size 6 sedan. We drove the car around town yesterday, and its remarkably tractable; the steering is a bit heavy at low speeds but other than that it's well behaved. Behaving myself on the open road is going to be another matter. I wonder how expensive speeding tickets are in British Columbia? It's going to take a concerted effort not to find out... -- Aaron Gold

Great car. However, it has no arm rests. Not all bad if you’re the driver but not so hot when you’re riding.
