Video: Hyundai Hellion Concept -- Behind the scenes at the LA Auto Show
Ever wonder what goes into one of those fancy concept-car presentations they put on at the auto shows? To be honest, neither did I. But Miles Johnson of Hyundai's PR department put together this five-minute video chronicling the preparation of the Hyundai Hellion concept car launch at the Los Angeles Auto Show (which is going on now), and it's actually rather interesting. Note especially the handsome young journalist in the green shirt who appears in the first few seconds of the video. Either the camera really does add ten pounds, or I really gotta start exercising... -- Aaron Gold

hey aaron!
first off…great pictures!
i guess it’s time for my “annual roving car show awards”.
1)goofiest design dept:the hyundai hellion…yes only goofy himself would be caught driving this car…back to the drawing boards gang…and lay off the mushrooms!
2)idea taken too far dept: the step box…was this stolen from the legoland design group?
3)orthodontist dept: acura advanced sedan’ overbite needs immediate orthodontic attention!
4)unoriginal idea meant to be original dept: does the mazda nagare front fascia look famiar? sort of reminds you of a rolling stone album cover from way back? does brown sugar come to mind?
5)downright ugly dept:spyker…i drew better pictures of cars in the second grade.
6)you’ve come a long way baby dept:mustang by giugiaro…you got to give it to those sexy ital. design studios…bellissimo!
7)compensating for an overdone concept dept: we all agree that v.w./audi has gone a bit too far with the gaping mouth concept, but somehow more of the same has turned just another big mouth into an attractive large featured hottie… as in julia roberts/sophia loren?
8)leaves me flat dept:callaway…might have promlems convincing mom to buy this wallflower, even after giving her the money to do it!
9)all around good design dept: volvo c30…it just works. if priced right, it could be a second coming for volvo.
10)where do i sign dept:honda fcx…keep it under 30k,i’ll buy it…keep it at 25k and my wife and i’ll be driving it!!!
I like your awards, Don. I especially think you hit it spot-on with the Volvo C30. That one’s going to be a winner.
