2006 has been a tremendous year for About.com Cars, for the other sites in the About.com Autos channel, and for me personally. We reviewed more cars than ever, and provided you with even faster coverage of the latest vehicles. Our traffic has grown tremendously, and we added new sites covering SUVs, minivans, and alternative fuels. It's been a stellar year -- but of course it doens't mean diddly if no one reads the site.
So thank you -- thank you for reading our articles, for sharing your comments, for recommending us to your friends and family, and for continuing to support About.com.
If you'll indulge me for a moment more, I'd also like to thank a few people who help make this site what it is. With more cars on the market than I can possibly review myself, I rely on the hard work of our freelancers and guest writers. And thanks to the automakers -- they provide most of the vehicles that we test drive, and this year more and more have invited us to the press previews that allow us to provide early coverage of upcoming models.

According to the US Dept. of Health and Human Services, alcohol-related crashes killed 135 people in the 12-hour period between 6:00 pm last December 31st and 6:00 am the next morning.
That averages out to one death about every five and a half minutes.
Even if you're mostly sober, plenty of your fellow road users won't be. Why take a chance? Please don't mess around -- have (or be) a designated driver who doesn't drink at all, and be extra careful out there.
