I've been testing a lot of mid-size sedans lately. First, there was the 2007 Saturn Aura: Loved the way it drove, but didn't like the interior and the lack of powertrain choices. Then there was the 2007 Chrysler Sebring: Thumbs-up for the interior decor, but thumbs-down for its road manners. You might be wondering what it takes to please me -- frankly, so was I. And the last car I expected to do it was the Pontiac G6 Sedan, especially considering my experience with the G6 Convertible.
You know what? The G6 Sedan is pretty darn good. New this year (and present in the GTP model I test drove) is the 3.6 liter V6 and 6-speed automatic combo, but that was only one of the things I liked. The G6 is proof yet again that General Motors really does know how to design a decent and desireable car. For details, check out my G6 Sedan test drive and G6 photo gallery. -- Aaron Gold

Just recently rented a g6 gtp almost like yours(different roof/no noise issue at all)in vegas and drove it to the coast and back putting 1000 miles on the odo. This car has an excellent engine to say the least. Responsive, would be understating it. My issues with it, is that this car lacked the refinement of of the v6 camry or accord. It was always rough around the edges, what with jarring on city streets or taking bad or sudden dips at speed and an occaisional harsh shift. It had a good envelope for handling, but you were never inclined to really push the edge of that envelope when the terrain might make you pay, if you erred. The interior was well appointed, but a bit stark for my taste.I absolutely loved the red dash and its utility. This car shows that GM is heading in the right direction, maybe next year with some massaging of this fabulously powerful car it could be a toyota/honda beater.
hey aaron, two days went by and i’m the only one who commented on the pontiac. in the meantime over 120 people have responded to the smart. boy if i had gm stock,i sure would be selling it now, seeing how much(or how little)interest their cars are causing. the car that will really send interest thru the roof will beyour review of the honda hydrogen car when you get to drive and review it. don
