I live in California now, but my formative driving years were spent in the Rust Belt, so I know all about driving in the snow. Whenever we got a decent snowfall, my best friend Jeff and I would head off to our favorite empty parking lot and practice skids, slides and spins (something I used to recommend to others until my desire to be helpful was overtaken by my fear of being sued). Believe it or not, driving in the snow is one of the things I miss most about New York.
So when it came time to test an all-wheel-drive Subaru Legacy Wagon, I decided I was going to find me some snow. My wife and I headed for the Sierras in search of "Chains recommended beyond this point" signs. How did Subaru's legendary all-wheel-drive do against California's legendary snow?
