Test drive: 2007 Infiniti G35 sedan
I actually test-drove the Infiniti G35 sedan a few weeks ago, but I wanted to hold off on posting my review until I'd had a chance to drive one if its chief rivals, the Lexus IS350. (That review will be coming up in a few days.)
As it happens, the G35 sedan was here at the Gold household during the same week as the 2007 Audi RS4. Now, comparing the G35 directly to the RS4 would be totally unfair. Not only is the RS4 one of the most thrilling sport sedans you can buy, it also costs twice as much as the G35. Still, it's hard to be objective when you've got the Lawerence Olivier of fast cars in your driveway.
As it happens, the G35 actually compares rather favorably. It didn't have the RS4's finesse, but it was almost as much fun to drive through the curves. The G35 has lots of talent and LOTS of power -- in fact, it may have a bit too much power. Overall, the Infiniti G35 turned in a very impressive performance. Check out my 2007 Infiniti G35 test drive and review for the details.

Nice review of the G35. Your views seem consistent with other reviews of this car. Interestingly, the rear seat in the G35 is much more comfortable than the BMW 3 series and, definitely, the Lexus IS. So my question, is this really a negative on the Infiniti?
Although they all have sporting pretensions, I really don’t see the G35 as competition to the smaller Lexus IS350 and BMW 3-series. I think of it as more of an alternative to the Cadillac CTS 3.6 and the Acura TL, or even the Lexus ES350.
Cadillac is in the process of readying a signficantly redesigned CTS with a much nicer interior and a version of the 3.6 liter V6 that puts out around 300 horsepower in the fall of 2007. It might give the G35 a run for the money.
