Auto show! This coming week, I'll be heading off to the Big Apple to cover the New York Auto Show. New York is going to be chock full o' new-vehicle launches along with a handful of concepts. Among them:

  • 2008 Buick LaCrosse and LaCrosse Super: Facelifted styling and an optional 300 hp V8
  • 2008 Buick Lucerne Super: With a 292 horsepower version of the current Lucerne's 4.6 liter V8
  • 2008 Callaway C16 Cabriolet: Topless version of the C16, a modified Corvette with a 616 hp supercharged V8
  • 2008 Cadillac STS: Caddy's middle child gets a little of the CTS' attitude
  • 2008 Ford Expedition Funkmaster Flex edition: No, really -- this limited edition SUV will have a custom exterior and interior plus a thumpin' stereo
  • 2008 Ford F150 Foose Edition: Another limited production truck, this one with unique styling and a 450 hp supercharged V8
  • 2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR: The King of the Road returns, with a custom suspension and 540 hp supercharged engine
  • 2008 Hummer H2: The H2 gets more power and a redesigned interior
  • 2008 Hummer H3 Alpha: The baby Hummer gets a V8 engine
  • Hyundai Genesis concept: V8-powered rear-wheel-drive concept that hints at hi-lux Hyundais to come
  • Infiniti G37 coupe: Two-door companion to the new G35 sedan
  • 2008 Mercedes CL65 AMG: Mercedes' big coupe with a 612 hp twin-turbo V12 stuffed under the hood
  • 2007 Nissan NISMO 350Z: Factory-tuned 350Z with a custom body kit and modified suspension, brakes, exhaust and wheels
  • Saab BioPower concept: Based on the 9-5, this concept car features a 2-liter turbocharged engine that runs on ethanol -- and produces 300 horsepower
  • Suzuki SX4: Suzuki will reveal the 4-door sedan version of the SX4
  • Volvo XC70: Revealed to the world at the Geneva Auto Show, Volvo's newest crossover makes its American debut

This is only a partial list -- I expect to see other new vehicles from Ford, General Motors, Subaru, Honda, Lexus, maybe even Jeep and Mazda. Keep checking back for more news, photos, and, of course, a visitor's guide to the show. -- Aaron Gold

What I want is a Freestyle / Taurus X with a turbo diesel. It would get a lot more people mpg than any hybrid.

I understand that Subaru will be showing the redesigned WRX, which very may well be a hatchback. Needless to say, I’m very interested……….. especially to see what the new STi will be like.
