Test drive: 2007 Nissan Altima
Looks like Nissan's added another car to my list of favorites. First, they introduced the all-new 2007 Nissan Sentra, which quickly became my favorite compact sedan. Now we have the new Nissan Altima, and -- you guessed it -- this is my new favorite mid-size sedan. Why do I love the all-new Altima? Lots of reasons, but primarily because it does everything the new-for-2007 Toyota Camry does, plus it's got three little letters that are near and dear to my heart: CVT. Matter of fact, the only things that let the Altima down can also be summed up in three letters: ABS and ESC. For all the details, check out my 2007 Nissan Altima 2.5 S test drive. -- Aaron Gold

Cheap grocery crusher trunk hinges, no ESC and no ABS????? are the deal breakers.
Makes it just another econobox.
Waiting to see what the coupe will look like. Also – does anyone know when the new Accord is coming out?
Very under-rated car, great value. A family member had a 2005 and it was a great car.
CVT yeah! CVT = J.U.N.K. to me, The expense to repair a CVT in a 4 or 5 year old car is often more than the cars worth.
Rented one for a week on vacation and agree with most of Aaron’s point. I averaged 30 mpg (US) combined city and 70 mph highway. Enjoyed the real time displays (outside temp, 580 mile range, etc) and tried slowing down to get 45-50 mpg on country roads. (Below 60 mph it’s great). Very peppy and smooth acceleration. Could use alloy wheels and perf. tires to make very good handling even better. Did not like small pass-through (give me a hatch and I’ll buy it now)and lack of room for tall people in back (to put their feet under front seat). Overall it shows that good performance, comfort and good fuel economy are not contradictory. Others will be playing catch up.
It sounds like Aaron’s almost ready to buy one of these…or Robin almost has him convinced to do so…BUT WAIT!!! I just saw the upcoming Honda Accord and it looks beautiful. You know it’s got to beat the recently relesed Camry…So Aaron don’t rush out and get one till you’ve reviewed the Accord…can you just hold out for just a few more months or shall Robin win out??? Fellow bloggers, stay tuned as Aaron’s drama plays out!!!
