Mercedes-Benz C63 AMGSoooo, looks like Mercedes has addressed my complaints about the new C-Class needing a bit more power. The upcoming AMG version of the C-Class, the C63 AMG, will get a 457 horsepower version of AMG's 6.3 liter V8. That's 50 fewer ponies than the E63 AMG, but I'm sure it will provide plenty of hustle for the smaller C. Along with the bigger motor, the AMG C boasts bigger brakes, modified suspension, manual shift capability for the 7-speed automatic, aggressive body kit and an updated interior.

Analysis: When can I drive one??? One of my few complaints about the E63 AMG was the lazy luxury-car-like steering. The C steers way better than the E, and assuming the AMG version of the C has the same neutral handling balance as the E63, this should be one hell of a car.... even if it doesn't have a clutch pedal. Check out photos of the new C63 AMG here. -- Aaron Gold

and I thought the C55 was perfectly excessive!

How bad is the sticker price?

I know this doesn’t matter for a car of this caliber, but what is the fuel economy?

Andy — good questions to which I don’t yet have answers. I averaged 16.6 MPG in the E63 wagon, which I thought was pretty darn impressive. If the C63 can manage 18 or 20, that’d be icing on the cake!

That is a great looking car. Its about time Mercedes started producing a performance car which isn’t massive. I bet they get a great response with this one.
