Test drive: 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible
My 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible test drive has been a particularly difficult review to write. I have a soft spot in my heart for Chryslers. When it comes to muscle cars, I'm a Mopar man through-and-through (dream car: 1968 Dodge Charger). My stepfather has sold Dodges and Chryslers for years; the Dodge Caravan was largely responsible for putting me through college. My first car was a Plymouth Reliant, my first brand-new car was a Dodge Neon, and my first old car was a Plymouth Duster. You get the point.
Writing a negative review of a car is never fun, but reviewing the Sebring Convertible was particularly depressing. The old Sebring Convertible was a well designed (if not brilliantly executed) product. The new Sebring has managed to nullify many of the old Sebring's best attributes while introducing even more bad ones -- same story as the Chrysler Sebring Sedan and Dodge Avenger. What the heck is going on over there at Chrysler? And will the new management be able to turn it around? Boy, I hope so. Get the full story here, and if you want pics, I got pics -- three pages' worth in my 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible photo gallery. -- Aaron Gold

Mopar huh…
I know where you’re coming from Aaron. I grew up in a Ford family and it just sucks to see the direction the company has gone.
But, I have to admit, the styling on this new Sebring is hot. Most people who buy these cars aren’t as sophisticated as you are so I see it selling quite well.

You drove a Reliant, and then a new Neon, and you’re still a Mopar man? You should have chosen a different field of Journalism!
The only thing worse than a K-Car was the Yugo – but it was close!
That ‘68 Charger may have been the last decent car Chrysler made!
Test car price: $93,660
That’s pretty pricey. I could buy a pretty sweet Porsche 911 convertible for that price…
With cars like this coming out, and the recent departure of Daimler, Chrysler seems like they’re shooting for a worse financial position than GM.
Ooooooops! As you can probably guess, the Sebrings I drove did not cost $93k (even if you added the two together!). One was $26,145, the other cost $37,755, and I’ve corrected that typo.
We have the same dreamcar then! Cool
Chargers and Challengers is dreams to me. That Sebring looks weak..
But, i ended up with a MB E430 Avantgarde -98 and a Toyota Supra 3.0i Turbo MK3 -89
I will have info up at http://www.zooloo.se soon
