Test drive: 2007 Suzuki SX4
2007 has seen several really, really good subcompacts hit the US market, and of all those my favorite is the Suzuki SX4. It combines three of my favorite attributes: It's safe, it's fun to drive, and it's laughably inexpensive. Plus it's a heck of a lot roomier than you'd expect considering its small size. The best of the rest:
- 2007 Honda Fit: An amazing example of packaging efficiency.
- 2007 Toyota Yaris S: The subcompact style leader.
- 2007 Nissan Versa: -- The small car with a big-car personality.

Aaron. I tend to agree with you. My Dad is a mechanic of many decades at a dealership which sells Suzuki and Subaru. Though I can not afford a new purchase at this time, I have driven a couple of these SX4s. They are surprising. And aside from Subaru, Suzukis (AS A RULE) do not get brought back real often. They seem to be fairly trouble free. I just sold my Suzuki Sidekick 95 with 300,000 miles on it. Only problems I ever had was a couple starters and lots of injectors.
Good call Aaron…I first met this cute little beast at the San Diego Auto Show, last Dec. Without driving it, I could see it was a great value car. It can only be compared to a Subaru Imprezza because of it’s AWD setup. That condsidered, a nearly 25mpg isn’t bad. Those extra horses do get hungry and less engine would really take away a lot of the fun out this car. If I was a snow belt commuter this would be a hands down top contender.
Nice Vehicle, but…
They need to add a model. an SX2. Same vehicle except 2wd for less money, less weight and less fuel.
