With the holiday season upon us, many of the About.com guides are posting gift-giving guides for their particular subject -- and I wasn't about to miss out on the opportunity. Of course, any car makes a great gift -- I remember the way contestants on The Price Is Right would go crazy for the crud cars they used to give away ("It's the new Chevrolet Vega, with 3-speed manual transmission, rear defogger and deluxe ashtray!"). So I tried to pick ten great gift cars for all sorts of situations.
Now, I'm pretty sure we all have our own ideas about what kinds of cars would make the best gifts -- so if there's something you don't see on my list (and I'm sure there will be), click the "comments" link below and tell us all what it is and why it would make a great present. -- Aaron Gold

I guess you don’t have any Eco frienly car gift prospects. If they’re rich the MB e300 Blue-tek, if they’re hard core the Prius screams “I’m Green!!!”
Not the Aveo!!!That would be the perfect example of the “Road to Hell is paved with good intentions”…for $1000 more you could give them a car for 10 years of carefree driving and they still would have a grand or more of trade-in value: the Honda Fit.
Aaron,
If someone gave me a car for free, I would take it! “Never look a gift horse in the mouth…”
WRX STi Wagon?!? When, when, when! I’ve been waiting for an STi Wagon for 5 years and I just made the final payment on my ‘02 WRX Wagon
Come to papa…
I’d take the Malibu. The Miata is a neat little car, but couldn’t drive it in WI winters. Guess I woulndn’t complain if someone gave me a Mustang, though.
Eric, the Miata would be a problem in WIS., but a Mustang? When I moved to Boulder,Co. in ‘88 with my Mustang GT, it sat at the base of Table Mesa Rd. for over a week after a 7″ snowfall. When the roads were finally passable, I drove to Pollard Jeep and traded it for an excellent Cherokee Sport 4.oL
