This week's Detroit auto show affords the opportunity to have a look at Audi's upcoming 2009 TTS. Now, this should be an interesting one. The TT was all new for 2008, I tested the Cabriolet with the V6 engine and the Coupe with the four-cyl. I loved the Cabrio but didn't hit it off with the Coupe -- my primary complaint (besides the watered-down styling) was the lack of Quattro all-wheel-drive or a manual transmission with the otherwise-magnificent four-cylinder engine. In fact, it was those very factors that kept the TT off our Best New Cars of 2008 list. The TTS offers a more powerful version of Audi's fantastic four with Quattro -- but again there's no manual, just Audi's S-Tronic direct-shift gearbox. I'm looking forward to trying out the TTS -- although, if I know Audi, I bet it's going to be unbelievably expensive. -- Aaron Gold
