Poll: Automotive New Year's resolutions
Reader Paul Dybro sent in a great suggestion for a poll on automotive New Year's resolutions. (Better late than never, right?) Which of the following do you plan to do in 2008? Paul and I have put together a pretty comprehensive list; sadly, our poll system will only let you vote once (what can I say, it was on sale), but come on -- how many of us follow through on all of our resolutions? If you've got one that we haven't included, click the "comments" link below and tell us what it is.
VOTE: What is your automotive-related New Year's resolution for 2008?
- Drive more than I did last year
- Drive less than I did last year
- Wash my car more often
- Add performance modifications to my car
- Buy automotive-related clothing (i.e. racing shoes)
- Attend a track day event with my own car
- Take a high-performance driving course
- Participate in a "racing experience" event
- Buy a new car
- Buy an old car
Thanks, Paul, for the suggestion. Vote away, folks -- I am looking forward to seeing the results! -- Aaron Gold

Aaron, how about “going green(er) with your transportation” as a resolution?
Or how about engaging in less road rage? That’s where I’d put my @#$%in vote! Not that I have a problem; except with that @#$%er who cut me off. Hey, hey, it’s under control… Heh, heh.
How about just simply MAINTAIN your car better. It would help with reliability, as well as increase fuel economy. *I guess I kinda agree with Shaun in this case HUH?*
ALL OF THEM! (and more)
* drive wayyy more
* (tried driving less, didn’t like it)
* wash the car more (Saw Drew Peterson at the car wash last time)
* race
* (already have race shoes)
* (already attended a high-performance driving course)
* start a race team
* coordinate a few MR2 club events
* show my cars
* more mods
* build a toybox for the fleet
* teach my sister to drive stickshift * buy my 35th car
* avoid speeding tickets (knock on formica)
and I am sure there are more…
1. Driving won’t change.
2. I already keep my car in top shape.
3. Both cars are oooold! No new cars, ever.
4. Next car will be much more economical, probably a VW diesel.
5. I want a totally electric plug-in car for in-town driving.
6. Only childish persons get involved in racing. (I’m entitled to my own opinion.)
I plan on going less green. I plan on driving my 66 Dodge Charger as often as I can. It has no catalytic converters, no emission sensors. It burns premium fuel at 15mpg. Until the auto makers can build a car with some character, performance, and fun to drive that gets 50mpg, is a two-door coupe (not a hatchback) similar to a Mustang/Challenger, and that doesn’t cost $30K+, I’ll drive my Charger, thank you.
