Photo gallery: New Audi A4 Avant
Audi has just released photos of the upcoming wagon version of the 2009 A4, known (like other Audi wagons) as the A4 Avant.
Is it just me, or does this thing look an awful lot like a BMW 3-series wagon from the rear?
I've been chiding Audi about the fact that their cars look too much like each other. I'm glad to see Audi doing something different... I just wish it was a bit more unique. Now, the design cycle for most cars is about three years, so it's not likely that Audi copied the design of the new 3-series -- it's just a coincidence, albeit a rather unfortunate one.
I have to admit that I'm in a bit of a cynical mood. Audi dropped off an RS4 Cabriolet on Wednesday... and it's been raining on and off ever since. I got a bit of top-down driving in today -- man, do I love living in California! -- so that's not the problem. The problem is that it usually takes a day or two for the About.com Cars Top Secret Curvy Test Road to dry out enough for me to really let it all hang out -- and I've been forward to hangin' it out in the RS4 Cabrio for weeks now. If I do a rain dance backwards, will that make it stop?

Wow, are you ever right! It really looks like BMW penned this one. I like the interior color combo. It does look a bit dark, though. By the way, if you do a backwards rain dance, would you snap a photo gallery of that for our veiwing pleasure?
If you stretched a 1-series into a wagon it would look something like this Avant, too; Especially because of the ridge that runs in a curve near the door sill.
