Photo gallery: 2009 Pontiac Solstice Coupe

Monday March 24, 2008

2009 Pontiac Solstice CoupeOf all the cars introduced at the 2008 New York Auto Show, I think the one I'm most intrigued by is the Pontiac Solstice Coupe. I'm not sure why I'm so interested in this car. I tested a 2007 Solstice GXP roadster and it didn't go so well. So I tested another one, and that went a bit better... but not much. And yet I'm intrigued by the concept of a Solstice that you can actually pack some luggage into -- and I know from my recent experience with a Corvette coupe that the whole open-roof concept really does come pretty close to a convertible. Guess we'll have to wait to see how it all goes together. Meanwhile, check out my 2009 Pontiac Solstice Coupe photo gallery, and be sure to click the "comments" link below to chime in with your own thoughts on the Pontiac Solstice Coupe. -- Aaron Gold

It’s too bad Pontiac didn’t spend the money on improving the Solstice they already have.

Looks way better than the convertible which I always thought was a bit of a chick car. Can you fit a set of golf clubs in there?

It looks like an evolution of a bloated MGB-GT that has had WAY too much Botox, however it’s appealing in a macabre, drug induced euphoric sorta way. I like it!

I love the looks of this car. The rear window harkens back to a 2+2 E-Type Jag. I can’t see Sean’s descriptive making sense on this car…he’s describing the Z-4 Bimmer with those words. If they can put this baby out for under 25k with 200 hp and proper handling…I’M SOLD!

If I were in my twenties and this thing worked, and you could get a set of clubs in it, I would buy it. period. Convertibles never made Canadian sense. (the snow makes it hard to get behind the wheel). Yes it is an MG GT clone, hopefully without the inevitable mechanic. But - alas- my ES350 is more suitable to my present state.

Is this supposed to be a hatchback? Or does the luggage go in through the passenger doors?
