When the G8 arrived in my driveway a week ago, I was pretty much ga-ga over the thing -- and with the G8's red paint, racy looks, and the promise of its 361 horsepower V8, can you really blame me? But one thing I've learned in this job is that love does not always last. So what kind of shape was my love affair in after a week of living with the G8? You'll find the answer in my 2008 Pontiac G8 GT test drive. And if you're the type who just wants to look at pictures, I've got plenty of new ones in my just-updated 2008 Pontiac G8 photo gallery. -- Aaron Gold

It kinda looks like Pontiac tried to get into this particular market on the cheap.I think options that are popular should be available,in case you want them. Why build a car like this if you can’t customize it the way you want it?I don’t think it will be much of a threat to the others. The interior is not that thrilling to me.
The bang for buck quotient here is high. It doesn’t offer some features but if, like me, you don’t care about those that aren’t offered you’re not gonna be troubled by the lack (adaptive cruise? yuck). Plus, if its a chioce between the features mentioned and the big engine (and at $30000., it is) I’d take the big engine every time. Pontiac didn’t make the mistake of directly competing with high rollers like BMW, but by bringing a cheaper, stronger, better handling, and higher quality car than Pontiac has ever offered, they’ve built one for us folks who like to enthuse on a budget.
Bringing out a car like this without even having Navigation as an option is stupid. Nice looking car, but I won’t even waste my time test driving it.
Well…I think it has turn by turn nav via Onstar. Nice because you dont have to take your eyes off the road. Not so nice in that many of us like a map to look at. For me, though, a $15. atlas does just fine and is a bargain compared to navigation. I could see how it would be nice in the city though.
Aaron I posted earlier that I wouldn’t want adaptive cruise on a car then noticed that the term you used was “active cruise”. What’s the difference?
That was a typo — adaptive is what I meant. DOH!
I did some research into this car and I would not buy one, the Aussie car it is based off has had to be recalled several times in Australia due to poor workmanship.
Not a very inviting car to me. Just another gas swilling, G.M V-8 and more generic Pontiac looks. They’re still playing it safe over there at GM. Hopefully not to the grave!
Hey, what is the top speed of the car..?
