The all-new BMW M3 is one of the most anticipated cars of 2008, and I've been looking forward to driving one -- but not for the reasons you might think. See, BMW fans kind of bug me. You know the type of BMW fan I mean -- the kind who go on and on and on an on and on and on and on about how everything BMW touches turns to gold. Whenever one of these people gets on his soap box about how only BMW truly understands the meaning of automotive performance, I have to fight the urge to disembowel him with his own car keys.
So I vowed that when the M3 showed up at my door, I would subject it to as stringent a test as any car I've ever driven. I would show it no mercy. I would pick it apart. I would expose its every flaw and foible. I would refuse to join the throngs of my colleagues who bow down and worship every M-series Bimmer that comes along. I would compare it to what I think is the absolute finest performance sedan in America: The Audi RS4. I would explain to those arrogant Bimmeristi once and for all what a real performance car is like!
So how did that play out? Er... not quite like I planned. Check out my 2008 BMW M3 test drive and review to get the full story. -- Aaron Gold
