What do you drive?
Tuesday September 30, 2008
"What kind of car do you drive?" That's the question I am asked second-most-often (the first being "How do I get your job?") So now I'd like to ask you the same question -- what kind of car(s) do you drive? Click the "comments" link below to answer. I'll go first. (I have to warn you, though -- you might be disappointed.) -- Aaron Gold

Besides all the cars I test for About.com…
1996 Honda Accord EX station wagon (wife’s car)
1989 Honda CRX (my car, when it works)
1969 Dodge Polara (when I can afford the gas)
2007 VW Bug Convertible — Triple White Limited Edition. I absolutely love it! It has a Hawaiian theme throughout, include the personalized plates. I’ve waited for this car for 20 years. Mahalo Aaron for suggesting I buy it!
My wife and I drive a 2007 Mini Cooper and a Honda CRV. This is my third and probably last terrific CRV. It gets up to 30MPG highway and I can load tons of stuff in it, but the kids are gone so the next car will be smaller with bigger MPG numbers. The Mini on the other hand is the best value I have ever had and is but the first of many to come in the future.
The most bitchin’ ride in the known universe. A 2001 Saturn SL1! It’s my plastic Fantastic that gets 36 mpg hwy. It’s also a masterpiece of understatement with its four options: Floor mats, Automatic Transmission, CD Player and A/C. Just a little to practical. Oh yeah!
1991 BMW 850 Coupe Brilliant Red. A whopping 9mpg but boy does it run fast and smooth. My other car is a bicycle BMW also.
2007 Mazdaspeed3 GT in Black.
I LOVE MY CAR.
96 Chevy Suburban LT 2WD (family outing/boat and trailer hauler, close to $150 to fill up)
98 Nissan Sentra (my everyday transportation but the soon-to-be-16-year old gets it in 1 week. It’s days are numbered.)
01 Honda CR-V EX (wife’s car)
So now my dilemma is: what do I purchase to replace the Sentra for me? I’m really thinking of another CR-V of the same vintage, the ’02’s (and up) don’t get as good economy with the restyle and bigger engine, but what a sweetheart of a practical vehicle.
I drive a 1994 Nissan Altima. The thing is white and has 150K on it and it is still going strong!!!! You know you want one.
Porsche Cayman S – Guards Red (2006) – Me
Lexus GS350 – 2008 – Wife
We drive a 2007, Marble White Mazda MX5 GT with a “Rare” 6 speed auto transmission/”Paddle” shifters. Its the most Fun we’ve had, with our clothes on in a car, since we were teens!
I drive a MINI Cooper S Clubman.
I drive a 1998 malibu v6. My wife’s car is a 2005 Kia Spectra5. Both were bought new. We love the spectra but I only get to drive it on weekends. Believe it or not, the malibu usually does the same or slightly higher mileage on the highway then the spectra. That just doesn’t seem right.
I drive a 2007 Mazda 5 and love it.
My wife drives a 2005 Kia Sedona and loves it.
By the way Aaron, my second car was a ‘69 Polara. It still ranks as my 2nd favorite ever! It met an unfortunate end when the engine started on fire.
I drive a ‘98 Sebring Convertible Limited and my wifes car is an ‘06 Pacifica. The Pacifica is the best driving and riding road car we’ve ever owned, she can actually ride more than two hours without getting out to walk off the pains she has. Gas mileage isn’t great, about 22.5, but the price we pay to be comfortable.
I drive a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica AWD. We also have a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport. We are retired and travel alot, sometimes up to 6 weeks at a time and the vehicles work great with four adults and all our gear.
My garage consists of a white 2005 Chevy Impala LS and a pewter 1998 Chevy Silverado Z71 Extended Cab Sportside. Both vehicles are the best cars my wife and I have ever owned.
1999 Silverado Z71 Great Truck – me
1972 Modified Beetle – Fun Vehicle
2008 BMW 328i – wife
In the family now:
2001 Focus ZX3, daily driver
2005 VW Golf TDi, 155,000 miles and climbing fast
1993 Toyota MR2 turbo, my baby
2005 Mazda RX8 zoom zoom!
2000 Honda Civic LX sedan (me)
2006 Saturn Vue V6 (my wife)
The “buy-a-new-car-every-two-years” guy (aka devil) in me is going crazy looking for a more sporty replacement for the Civic… but the “can-you-believe-the-price-of-gas” guy (aka angel) is calmly pointing out that is nothing more practical that will be cheaper to operate. Which only makes the guy on the other shoulder even more frustrated!
At least I get to drive the Vue on weekends… with a Honda engine and transmission, it is smooth and economical, unless you put your foot in it… Oh boy!
‘08 Mazdaspeed3 in Gray Mica
Best purchase I ever made (thanks in part to about.com’s stellar review). Talk about pure driving pleasure! It beats the fun/dollar ratio over the head with a wiffle bat. Only had it for a month, and already racked up almost 4k miles.
After drooling for three years, I am now the VERY SATISFIED owner of a 2008 Chrysler 300C Hemi. It is a blend of handling, power and luxury that is affordable. And, it gets “similar” MPG to my ex-Pacifica (that I loved).
Long live rear wheel drive and fun times behind the wheel!
In the land of the Big 3 we bravely (or stupidly) drive:
2004 Acura MDX
2007 Acura TSX
2008 Pontiac Grand Prix (the company car)
We are not originally from the “D” -
so we brought our Japanese cars with us – sorry. But I wish people would stop trying to race me at every light to prove American prowess!
2007 Malibu, replaced my ‘98 Malibu (still ran great but rust would not pass inspection). Great highway mileage (32 mpg). I bought both used and I don’t regret it. Happy trails
Daily Driver 2006 Crown Vic Police Interceptor
2007 328i BMW (Wife Car)
2006 XC90 (Family truckster)weekends
I drive a 1999 Honda Prelude – awesome car – bought it new and I hope it lasts forever.
Wife drives 2002 Toyota Rav4 – boring but ok for driving stuff around.
My daily driver is a beautiful blue 1993 Chevy half-ton pickup. 200500 mile on her, and the clutch is still good! It gets around 22 MPH with a 305 V8, and I see no reason to ever get rid of it. On the other hand, my wife’s car is a ‘99 Dodge Durango, which is, without question, the largest lemon in history! Sadly, we can’t afford to replace it with something more reliable (like a Yugo or Lada) right now!
2008 Accura TL – great drive and confort (me)
2008 Town & Country Limited – lots of gadget and equipment, needs to have better fit & finish thou.
My wife and work together so we tend to drive the same car.
2006 Mazda3 TouringS Really a fun little car.
2000 Dodge Intrepid Huge and gets better mileage than you would expect.
1978 Honda CB750K8 that I am working on restoring.
A 2005 Saturn Ion I. 5 warranty repairs in 37,000 miles. The INSTANT it is paid off, it is going away…why I read this site. I’ve got to do better next time.
1956 Porsche 550 Spyder replica (built in 2001)
1995 Toyota MR2 Turbo (stolen off my driveway 2 mo ago)
1996 Honda CBR 600F3 Smokin’ Joe Camel Commemorative Edition
2001 Dodge Ram 2500 extended cab Cummins Turbo Diesel
2002 Mercedes //AMG C32 MONSTER – L.E.T. tuned to 500HP
2004 VW Jetta TDi (currently being sold)
2009 VW Jetta TDi (should arrive soon!)
2006 Acura TL
2004 Jeep TJ Unlimited (built)
2002 Chevy Suburban 1500 LT
All 3 have been great so far!
2006 VW Jetta TDI – Keep thinking I want a new diesel something, but nothing beats the 42mpg average I get in mostly city driving, nor can you get a new Jetta TDI with leather, pwr seats, auto climate control that mine has. Guess I’ll drive it into the ground, which is fine because I love it!
1999 Honda Civic
2005 Ford Taurus: Great driver with likable V6 – 24 mpg city, 28-30 mpg highway.
2007 Mustang GT: forget the mpg…what more can you say..it’s an awesome black on black Mustang GT!
2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor
2002 VW Beetle
1995 Dodge Ram V10 I drive this as little as possible.
Santa Fe SUV (wife’s) We love this one
Yamaha four wheeler use this one quite a bit, we live on a ranch in New Mexico.
2004 GT RX-8
2009 Mini Cooper S
1 week old BMW 1 series…do you guys even get these? Alpine white two door, great fun to drive with added BMW quality and workmanship.
Also 1990 Corvette, just for Sundays, just watch the locals sitting outside the village pub as I drive past, engine sounding like an engine should. Great American car, as a Brit I hate seeing you guys knocking US cars.
Just bought a 2009 Sonata Limited 4 Cylinder and (after 2 months) am very impressed. Switched after 3 straight Honda Accords, because of the major price difference. Not the sportiest driving car, but a great highway car and a fantastic value.
My wife has a 2003 Legacy Station Wagon that is really a lot of fun to drive. Great handling and a Sherman tank in winter driving. She absolutely loves the practicality of it and the security it gives her. We are well set and pretty happy with our rides!
2007 CORVETTE COUPE ATOMIC ORANGE (JUST A SICK RIDE)
2005 CHEV SUBRBN (DAILY DRIVER)
2003 HD ULTRA (LONG TRIP MCY)
2007 HD ROAD GLIDE (SHORT TRIP MCY)
1988 HD HERITAGE LOCAL RIDE (NOW 20 YEARS WITH ME) NEVER OWNED ANY VEHICLE THAT LONG
Still love my Volvo 740 GL. after 20 years.
I am 6′7 250 lbs. so finding a car I’m confortable in is important. I drive a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser for a personal vehicle. I lease a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu LT2 as my work vehicle for driver training. the lease is up for that vehicle this coming year and I am really leaning towards the 2009 Mazda 6. My wife’s vehicle is a 2008 Hyundai Sante Fe full load.
All 3 vehicles are comfortable for me.
2002 Acura TL-S
2007 Saab 9-3 Aero
I drive a 2007 Lexus RX400h and my wife a 2007 Camery Hybrid. With $4 gas the payout for the hybrid premium has gotten a lot sooner.
2007 Lexus ES350 for me and my dogs to feel somewhat feminine. I’m old, need any ego boost. Also, a 2008 MDX Acura to tote the family. Am great grandmother of three, so must be practical.
I drive a 1999 Mazda Protege LX. This little lady has 123,225 miles on her, and she drives like a brand new car. I hope to keep her through 2011 or 2012.
My other vehicle is my bike!
2002 Buick LeSabre, but am getting a “new” car.
Got a make/model recommendation for a 4-door sedan, good gas mileage, sporty, sophisticated(?), intermediate size, used, reliable, under $25K?
I am in a similar situation…
The wife and I share a 2001 Nissan Altima GXE Luxury Edition… the finest blend of plastics and rubber you have ever seen. What really sets it apart is the non-functioning in-dash 6-disc changer AND non-functioning single disc slot.
Testing cars is a very welcome relief…
(2008 VW Touareg 2 V10 TDI at the moment…)
‘92 Subaru Legacy-bought new-has 239k on it GREAT CAR (stick) but rust is staring to set-in. Just got 39 mpg on recent road trip (kept speed down and no A/C on)-has only left me stranded twice; waterpump (my fault for not changing out with first belt replacement) and pretensioner failure on 2nd replacement timing. (This is my Third Subaru-also had a ‘74 Uesed and ‘83 new in the past.
‘98 Dodge Grand Caravan-bought as used from dealer wit 22k on it (now it has 110k) but have had many problems; just got out of shop yesterday with (minor transmission problem. Need to buy for my wife when we had twins and had to replace her Mercury ‘88 (Mazda in drag) Tracer Wagon (which has also very reliable and had ‘96k on it
I have you all beat…
I drive a 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis. The previous owner tagged on a second, legit exhaust, and heavy duty springs in the back so it sits up like a cat about to pounce..and old cat, but a cat nonetheless. It gets 12 MPG in all city driving, and only leaks a little oil. Canadian-made American steel. Can’t be beat.
This is a sobering story. I got old. Have driven Morgan, BMW, many MG’s, Corvette, Fiat, Renault *blush*
Now I have a 2007 Corolla that got in-town mpg of 32.5 last time I filled up. Really is a superior car, quality. comfort, peppy, quiet and the mpg. Just don’t cruise the Interstate if there is a breeze.
1. 2007 Camry Hybrid. 40 mpg as advertised. But lousy build quality.
2. 2004 Honda Odyssey. Best of the four minivans we’ve ever owned. But, it sure has lots of road noise.
3. 1996 Ford Taurus. The perfect car for teenagers. Cheap to buy, run, insure and repair. And safe!
2008, BMW 525 sport pkg.
2009, Audi A4 premium.
2005 Honda Civic EX Special Edition 5-speed in dark grey. I LOVE THIS CAR!! I’d wanted one since this color came out in 2004 and I was so happy when I was able to finally get one. It’s my 7th Honda and I doubt I’ll own anything other than a Honda or Acura product ever again. (I did own a 1987 Toyota MR2 which I adored, but alas MR2s are no longer made). Honda products are good looking, reliable, safe, fuel efficient, comfortable, low emmissions vehicles. I like that I can feel good about the vehicle I drive, and be cool at the same time.
2006 Lexus IS-350. Wifes and one great road car.
2009 MINI CooperS Hatch Back. The most entertaing car I’ve ever had and rock solid. This our daily driver.
I drive a 2004 Chevrolet Impala with a 3.4 engine. It gets great mileage and pretty good ride Has 95k on the clock.
2003 Subaru Outback LL Bean Wagon (wife)
2006 Subaru WRX Sportwagon (daily driver)
2005 Porsche Carrera S (Garage Queen)
Subaru is in the shop getting new tires today. Drove the Garage Queen. What a fun car
2002 Audi TT
2004 Scion xb
1968 Buick LeSabre Conv
2002 Kawasaki ZX12R
My wife and I love them all!
2007 Subaru Impreza 2.5i Special Edition gets 29 mpg highway if I can keep my foot out of it. 1966 VW Beetle highly modified has over 150hp gets about 5mpg average. Wifes car 1998 Nissan Altima gxe gets high 20’s mpg.
Good morning Aaron.
First and foremost, I quite enjoy you blog. Keep up the good work!
The vehicles in our household are as follows;
- wife has an 07 Pontiac G6 GT – horrible car!
- son has an 02 Focus SVT – wonderfull car!
- daughter has Jeep Cherokee – what can I say?
- my spoiled self – 97 Porsche Targa, a 99
Harley FXDX & an 05 Harley Road King Classic
Best regards.

2008 Ranger 4 cyl. 5-spd. Manual (mine, bought new January ‘08)
2008 Taurus X Eddie Bauer (wife’s, bought used August ‘08)
These are our retirement cars, and they will likely stay with us for a long time. Before I retired, I traded cars A LOT (sometimes twice a year) because my brother is a Ford-Mercury dealer.
I’ve owned 15 Mustangs, all with manual transmissions, and all with V8’s (except for one Mustang II, but I’m not talking about that one). I have also owned just about every other Ford and Mercury you can think of including a Maverick, Comet, a Fairmont, a Mercury Zephyr (remember those?), a couple of Cougars, an LTD, several F-150s, etc., etc.
But $4 gas and retirement-level income has brought more conservative vehicle choices to my house. The Ranger gets outrageously good mileage in our suburban-type conditions: 27-28 mpg in town, and 30 mpg highway. The Taurus X is a super nice, large and convenient car, but only gets about 17 mpg city and 25 mpg highway. These cars fit our needs very well at this stage of our lives.
We have:
2008 C6
2007 HHR
2007FLTRI
2007FDLRI
Too much insurance!
I drive a 2006 Cadillac STS as my daily driver(can you say dog!). My weekend/trips car is a 2008 Chrysler 300C. My wife drives a 2006 Mercury Milan. All three are leased and we can’t wait to get rid of the two 2006s.
‘07 Civic EX sedan auto…
Unfortunately I own the aforementioned piece of junk! I’ve had the car 21 months & 13k miles. The trans has been replaced, the replacement trans has had problems, a power steering leak, both sun visors split & were replaced, the inside right cv boot & joint replaced, 2 recalls & the battery had 2 dry cells, the battery is suppose to be maint free! Oh, & let’s not forget the A/C, it cuts out for 10 to 12 seconds with moderate to heavy acceleration from a stop. Honda designed the A/C to work this way.
This piece of junk will be gone by the end of the year & I will never buy another Honda!
I drive a 1996 Honda Passport (rebadged Isuzu Rodeo). It has 112000 miles and has given me exemplary service. My only gripe about the vehicle is its lousy fuel economy. It gets a consistent 17 mpg overall and it just kills me to keep having to fill it up. So therein is the dilemma. I own a vehicle that has had minimal service issues and is long paid for. Do I want to buy a new(er) vehicle that gets much better gas mileage and take on a payment or grin and bear the great service yet high fuel consumption of my Passport?
My car: Just got a 2006 Mazda3 GT because of driving demands for new job. We had been a one car famiy since I gave up my 2004 Mazda6 GS V6 after the lease ran out last year.
Wife’s car: 2001 Hyundai Elantra. 200,000Kms and going strong.
My current ride: 06 Jeep Commander (lease and can’t wait until it is over)
My wife’s ride: 06 Honda Odyssey (wonderful van)
I drive a 1992 Oldsmobile Toronodo Trofeo, I lovingly refer to it as the starship enterprise
2001 VW Golf GLS TDi TurboDiesel. Took the stock little used $9000 90 HP/155 ft lbs torque car, added the larger VW 155 HP European TDi Sport Turbo, bigger injection nozzles, bigger custom exhaust, Upgraded intake, custom OBDII Tuning, South Bend Rally Clutch, larger wheels, upgraded suspension. Now I have a $13000 hot rod that seats 4, gets 42 MPG in combined city/hwy mileage and 51 MPG on highway trips, has 175 HP and 335 ft/lbs of torque (75 more than a 911 Carerra)…all running on biodiesel for $10,000 less than a Prius. Way too much fun!
I’ve had several, currently a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan, and a 1986 Jeep Cherokee. Dodge gets fantasic fuel economy (35mpg@60 mph) used to have a ‘29 Ford Model A for a daily driver. Wish I had it back.
Every enviro nuts dream. 2000 GMC extra cab. Jacked up 8″ with 35″ tires.
2007 GMC Sierra (mine)
2009 Hyundai Sonata Limited (wife’s)
My wife drives a 2008 Ford Taurus Limited and I’m waiting for my 2009 Mustang GT California Special to be delivered.
2005 Forenza Wagon EX – grocery days
2006 MX-5 – sunny days
2006 Nissan Frontier – recycle days
1988 Caddy Brougham – parade days
02 JEEP Grand Cherokee
97 JEEP TJ

•2000 BMW 328i, 5-spd 108k miles
•1999 Honda Civic EX 4-dr, auto 53k miles
I drive a LS400 Lexus and have 230,000 miles on it. I may have to change distributor caps and rotors soon (first time)
This is the king of the road you talk so much about other cars that would never go 230,000 miles
2008 Infiniti M35 sport (my wifes)
2005 Chevrolet SSr (mine)
2004 Chevrolet Corvette modified to look like a 1962 vette (my wifes)
2001 Chevrolet Corvette modified to look like a 1962 vette (mine)
A 2003 Saab 9-3 , 5 speed, best car I have ever driven in the winter, had a Pathfinder before. Also drive a 2004 Chrysler Sebring convertible. Fun in the sun. Selling both and ordered a 2009 Honda Accord also 5 speed. Retiring and need to have only 1 car.
To gas hog boats. Well not exactly hogs.
1991 350sdl Mercedes runs on most any fuel to include old heating oil and used vegitable oil.(whatever I can get my hands on)19-27 mpg
1994 LS400 Lexus 21-27 mpg when driven wisely or down to 17 mpg when racing. LOL
02 WRX – 153K miles, still love driving this car – MINE
03 Toyota Matrix S 111K miles – wifes POS car
98 Dodge Grand Caravan – 206K with failing trans – let the step son beat on this car.
I am currently on a Honda kick, I drive an ‘03 White Civic LX coupe and absolutely love it. Picked it up on a whim when I sold my Ford Ranger. My wife drives an ‘05 Toyota Matrix, she loves it and I hate it.
I have driven mostly Fords all my life. I actually read the post from Steve in GA and I too have owned both the Fairmont and the Maverick coupe, ‘81 and ‘69 respectively. I also had a KIA for a couple of years but would rather not go there right now.
I currently drive my husband’s 2006 Purple Mini Cooper…with two carseated minipeople in the back…it’s getting very crowded back there!
Looking at the new little VW SUV…
Our big car is a 2007 Honda Civic EX 4dr sedan which recently delivered 40.5 MPG on a trip from VA to GA (all down hill if you hold the map up!);
Our little car is a 2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP – in which my wife will only reluctantly and only with the top up and the AC on. She just does not get the wind-in-your-face sportscar thing.
07 Dodge Charger RT AWD, fast, roomy, comfortable, unbelievable handling in every weather condition. Couldn’t love it more.
You could say Im a “car nut” because I have owned over 150 cars of all types. I enjoy Building, Racing and Driving fast cars.
currently, my wife & I own:
2008 infinity G37S
2007 BMW 335 coupe
2003 Corvette Race only car 488hp
1969 Z28 Camaro 502 cid w/671 gmc blower.
This “Trailer Queen” was custom built for the shows and a weekend blast over to the inter-coastal for lunch with other car nuts…
2008 Infiniti G35 Sedan (for me)
2008 Mazda 5 (for the wife and soon to be kids)
Being a former G35 coupe owner, I couldn’t give up the fun and luxury feel so I had to get the sedan version when the need for a practical back seat arrived. Looking forward to the G37 coupe convertible down the road!!
2001 Subaru (daily driver to work).
2007 Honda Ridgeline..Love it, used about every 2 or 3 weeks (Family Ride).
82 Corvette CE my fun ride (every one should have a fun ride)I worked for it.
I drive a 2008 Jetta, but I’m really really really desirous of the forthcoming Golf TDi. They cannot get here soon enough. The Jetta is really awesome, but it’s way more space than I need.
1997 Dodge, 3/4 4×4 extended cab diesel (daily)
2005 Toyota sienna (wifes)
2007 KLR-650 (fun in the sun)
2006 Jaguar XKR convertible (traded in the 2003 Tbird) a wonderful car!, and a restored, supercharged 1963 Studebaker Avanti my Dad bought new (I know, younger readers are probably asking “What’s a Studebaker?”)
I own a 2008 Mazdaspeed 3 Grand Touring in white. Like another post earlier I also have only had it for just over a month and couldn’t be happier! Tons of options plus ALOT of zoom zoom with a look that cops ignore…I mean it looks good! You can’t go wrong!
2003 Olds Alero (my daily driver)
1999 Grand Cherokee (wifes car)
2002 Stratus Coupe (daughters car)
1982 Jeep CJ8 (toy)
1970 Buick LeSabre Convertable (toy)
Altima 2.5 SE 2008 is current car of choice for overall driving…usually 80M mi. in 3 years.Wife’s Pathfinder SE from 2003 is local option driving vehicle. Been Nissan guy since ‘99…These are 3rd and 4th models…Never had any warranty work on any and nothing but routine maint. thereafter. Very pleased…
Japan made ‘03 highest quality car ever owned.
I drive a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche. This is our trip car – holds a lot of camera gear and loads of clothes, boots, dogs, etc. and we don’t use it for in town driving.
My wife has a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee which she had when we got married. We use it for all of our in town driving. When it’s time to retire the Jeep, we intend to buy a more fuel efficient cross over vehicle.
I drive a 2005 Acura TL. Superb luxury comforts, and all the high-tech bells and whistles (voice activated controls). But the front wheel drive is squirrly off the line and the linkage isn’t as smooth as one would expect in an Acura. I’m looking to trade it in for a new 2009 Cadillac CTS-V when they’re released.
1. 1995 Honda Civic Ex Coupe
2. 2005 Dodge Dakota 4×4
3. 1965 Ford Mustang
1997 Buick Park Avenue.
25+ MPG!!
6 humans in passenger area
6 bodies in trunk
ugly enough its never been broke into or stolen.
164k miles No problems at all.
Affectionatly referred to as our “BattleStar”
Wife drives a 2007 Acura TL and I a 2007 Lexus RX-350. I’ll take the TL anyday. I really prefer my BMW motorcycle.
I drive a pristine 2007 Malibu SS. Love it, it has all available GM options and i haven’t had a moments problem with it. Im looking at the Cadillac CTS-V (2006-2007) and hate the fact i might have to get rid of the SS……
I just got rid of a ‘90 Cadillac DeVille which I averaged 12mpg no matter what I did, to a 2005 Chrysler 300c with the HEMI. I now average about 17mpg and I absolutley love it.
All I could ask for would be a true Manual instead of the auto-stick.
We own a hyundai elantra fx 2005 model in black 5 speed man hatchback (from ausralia mate )so fx is 2nd top luxury has everything except alloys good car some minor elec probs
In not too long ago I drove LINCOLN TOWNE CARS or MERCURY GRAN MARQUIS. Then my Wife, due to health problems, began to use a walker. So I reasearch on the web and purchased a KIA SEDONA when first introduced to the American Market. Later she had to use a transport chair and I purchased a 2006 KIA SEDONA. Now that she has passed away I find I like the Sedona as it is easy to get these old bones/body in/out of the vehicle instead of falling down and hoisting myself out of the bucket front seats! (What ever happened to bench front seats!) GOD BLESS
2002 Denali=Me
2004 Volvo S60 AWD = Wife

I drive a 2005 scion tC, the first year of this vehicle. Had it since new, right off the ship in Jacksonville, Florida. Now has over one hundred thousand miles. Only things replaced have been a sunvisor, tires, and oil. Still has original brakes that work just fine.I did have to get the rear hatch fixed after too many times trying to open it when I forgot to unlock it first. Great fun, great reliability, great mileage. Wife loves it, too. By the way, we’re middle aged boomers, not exactly the target market for scions!
For the record Chet, I am 13 and I know what a Studebaker is.I probably know more about cars than you do.
I drive a 2000 chevy cavalier that is bi-polar. the reason why I call my car bi-polar is due to the fact that tthe origional owner didnt do alot of matainence on the car except the basic stuff. there are five reasons why im driving this car (1)$36.00 to fill up on gas,(2)way cheaper than a toyota prius,(3) its basic transportation for a high school student,(4)when i got it off the lot (used) it had only 56,000 miles on it (even though the motor looks like it has 256,000 miles on it). (5) members of my family worked for General Motors. I can’t wait until I sell my car so I can upgrade to somthing with more power.
I drive a 2006 Range Rover Sport diesel. My partner drives a 2005 Land Rover Discovery L3 diesel. These new diesels are fantastic; powerful and fuel effecient. We also have a 1970 Holden Ute (GM Aust) 1973 Nissan President V8 (ex Chairman of Nissan Australia’s company car) and a 1984 Nissan President V8E, both in black for special occasions. Now we just need some friends and an invitation!
2003 Civic Hybrid (for both of us when it’s big enough, nice mileage around town so it’s the choice usually)
2002 Honda CRV (when we need more capacity or if the weather demands or if we’re both on the road at the same time)
2001 Mazda B4000 (bad weather vehicle, occasional loaner to friends, the “haul it” and/or pull the trailor vehicle)
I have a 1997 Ford Escort, but I don’t touch it unless it rains. My wife has a 2004 Ford Taurus, she hates it, but drives it anyway. Both are reliable cars, just look odd in this all-japanese-car environment. I also have two motorcycles, those are my primary transportation.
2009 audi a4 cabriolet in dolphin gray!
I have a 2005 Dodge Ram Quad cab with the Hemi
and 4″ Flowmasters and surprize it get’s good
gas
I drive a 1992 Lincoln Towncar “Cartier” by far the most elegant and classy american luxery car on the road……Mocha Frost Mettalic, tan leather interior…..not leather trimmed…all sweet supple leather,”SONY EXPLODE CD PLAYER” “Kenwood 1000 watt amp” micro tweeters in 4 locations”…’SONY 12″ SUBWOOFER” 17 mpg in the city about 21 on the road….I willl never again drive anything other than a Lincoln….like they say…”Lincoln….reach higher!”
1972 Chevy Impala 350 v8 A/C Nice car water injection 24 mil to gallon They had water injection sence early 60s on some gm cars.
I drive a 1993 Mazda Miata and a 1999 Subaru Legacy for the cold months
2001 Mercedes C-320. Comfortable, great handling, mileage around San Diego 23 mpg avg, on the highway – up to 30. Problem: The exterior lights keep burning out, alternator died, A/C problems under the dash. Also a 1990 Toyota Celica. Faithful as a hounddog.
2008 Chevy HHR “SS”- GR8 Turbo 4 w/260HP, 10 l/100Km (city) and 7.5 l/100Km (highway) and handles like a sportscar !
2005 Corvette – 180 mph and 8.5 L/100 (highway) don’t drive it much in town but I’d guess about 12.5. Best Corvette and car we’ve ever owned ! Great Handling, Great brakes,Great power and the good mileage is a bonus !
2006 VW Rabbit – My wife’s car about the same mileage as the HHR but over 100HP less !!
6 speed auto is a little sloppy. Good brakes.
When I bought my little “SS” (a Corvette Engineer friend suggested I try it), I considered the Civic Si, VW GTI,and 3 series BMW. Oddly, for a non truck guy, I found the “SS” handled as well as the other 3, braked as well as all but the BMW, and was the same price as the Honda ! The dash is a bit low rent but I like the rest of the(two tone)interior and it has enough room for a recently retired (but not slow)guy ! And it’s different ! The other three cars were pretty much the same except the BMW which was a big disappointment, especially in view of how much they cost. I also drove a Solstice GXP but I’m not a convertible guy ! Same great powertrain as the HHR though ! My advice is, if you haven’t tried a domestic lately do it – they are back !
1989 Pontiac Bonneville LE
1995 Pontiac Bonneville SE
2000 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi
1995 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 4×4
Wow some nice cars on this list. Makes mine kinda boring.
‘08 Nissan Mocco – a 660cc “Kei” car
‘01 Mazda MPV – the weekend warrior, and maybe soon to be replaced with a near new VW Golf Wagon
Then there is my pride and joy
‘92 Honda NSR 250 SE – a 2 stroke Motorcycle. I know, I know I don’t “Drive” it but I do ride it as much as possible.
If I had your job Aaron, I wouldn’t bother with a new car either.
07 Odyssey
08 Evolution X
2007 Dodge Ram 3500, 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel, six-speed automatic
-First car 1988 mustang convertible (4 banger, auto, too many problems to list). Still a fun car while it lasted.
-I also drove a 1997 Buick LeSabre in there. What a boat.
-Since then, I have been driving a 1997 Acura Integra. Love the car, 140+k miles and going strong. Add up the mileage the other two cars died at (transmission failure both) and you’re a little over what I am at now. And I still get 28 mpg or better. Mixed.
2008 Toyota Yaris and I LOVE IT!!!!!
i drive a 2000 civic ex coupe 150k and runs great
parents have

2004 Chevy Impala 155000 miles
We have an ‘84 MBZ 300D Turbodiesel sedan with 183k miles which we’ve owned for 19 years. It’s absolutely bulletproof! We also have an ‘06 MBZ E320 CDI sedan, a 45-state diesel, which we’ll probably keep forever: no AdBlue, no particulate filter, etc., just 39 mpg highway mileage and enough torque to pull 100 mph at 3000 rpm.
2004 Infiniti G35 sedan (weekdays)
1999 Mazda MX-5 Miata (weekends)
2004 Acura TSX (the wife’s car)
Always thinking of what the next car should be but like the fact I have no payments and mileage is good on 2 out of 3 cars. Infiniti gets only 18-19MPG since I drive mostly on streets.
2008 F-150 King Ranch, 5000 miles, best truck ever had
I have a 2006 Infiniti G35 coupe…..
I love the handling and I think the exhaust note sold me on the car. I can’t wait for the G37 convertable.
In fact, my whole family owns Infinitis. My parents have a QX4 and Q45 and my brother has a 2007 G35 Sedan (I think he wanted the coupe but he needs the 4 wheel drive).
2006 Elantra hatchback (me) – BORING!!! I have a 110-mile commute every day and it gets me there and back. Gas mileage is disappointing.
2007 Camry SE (wife) – what a great car! It’s quiet, extremely comfortable, and looks great.
I drive a 98 new beettle with a 2.0 tubo out of an Audi A4.It has 238000 miles with a little over 100000 miles on the motor. Love the car.Had very little trouble with it. Tough to find some parts since so many things were changed in 99 by VW.

2007 Toyota Tacuma (great car milage could be better)
1918 T-Ford the only reliable american car ever build.
Ok (132)Joe. If you are going to talk about your wife like that make sure she “accidentaly” gets to read it.
Have owned or driven so many cars, trucks motorcycles that my family makes fun of my turnover rate. LOL
I currently must have large cars to obsorb the road in order to deal with back issues.
I want a Jetta wagon TDI. Good milage and I know most of the problems VWs face.
07 Honda Accord
03 Chevy Trailblazer (wife)

1992 Mazda B2600 Cab Plus 4Wheel.
1999 Honda Accord Coupe LX with manual transmission; love it on the highway, sometimes I care about gas, sometimes I don’t.
Wife drives an 06 Honda Civic. Great car and awesome mileage. I drive an 07 Toyota Tundra 5.7L Double Cab. Gas mileage is better than the Tahoe I traded in.
I drive a 2007 Discovery Motorhome which gets nine mpg, its our home and we love it. My wifes car is a 2003 Honda accord which gets 24 in city and 34 mpg on highway. Lots of room and very comfortable.
2004 Chevy Impala LS (daily with 63k miles)
1999 Olds Alero V6 Coupe (wife with 143k miles)
1984 Olds Cutlass Supreme V8 (when we feel we can afford the gas!)
1982 Mercedes 380 SEC given to me 5 years ago by my grandmother who bought it when I was 9 years old. Holding up pretty well, I drive this to work, daily. 17 city 18 hwy
My wife drives a 07 Honda Oddysee. Most disappointing Honda ever. Shody craftsmanship and dishonest MPG info. I wish Ike could have taken this POS to into the sea 12 city 24 hwy.
2008 BMW 535I-cant get better performance and speed with a v6!The true benchmark…
2007 Audi Q7-with a few kids and seating for 7, find a safer more versatile SUV that handles like a german car..
2005 BMW 330CiC-my toy, yes some drivers still prefer a manual with some power and great performance…
Have a 2007 Jeep Liberty 4×4. Had a 2007 Honda Fit, but sure glad I switched. I now have the oomph to pull my son’s 1984 BMW out of a ditch – twice.
2005.5 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro (manual of course)
First Audi I’ve owned and I love it! The Quattro is amazing for the Colorado winters.
You and I have something in common, Thomas: I’m 13 and I too know what a Studebaker is. My dad drive a 2001 Mazda Protege and my mom drives a 2000 Toyota Camry(which I can’t stand). Next summer, though, My dad will buy a 2007 Volvo C70. When I get older, I’m gettin’ me one of those Cadillac CTS Sportwagons. The Volvo will serve as my high school car(I’m in high school right now). The Volvo is a 5-speed Auto(I hate sticks and so does my dad(no offense,Aaron)).
nothing. my cougar just got totaled and i’m in the market for a new ride. i’ll miss that car. stopped a F150 dead in its tracks when he rearended me doing 60 and i was stopped. i got out without a scratch on me, no broken glass, and the car is still drivable technically. the rear is crushed but nothing touching the tires and the body is still straight. 130,000 miles on her and she’ll still roast the rubber off her tires even in her condition lol maybe i’ll shellout the 10+ grand to fix it her……

1976 MG Midget
2001 PT Cruiser
2000 Saturn SL1
I drive a 2005 PT Cruiser, Touring Edition, with a few modifications. This is the vehicle I drive to work and is basically used for that purpose. I have a family vehicle; a 2005 Mercury Monterrey, Premier Edition. The van is the vehicle the family and I take when move travel as a family.
2009 MINI Cooper
2001 Subaru Outback Wagon
1995 Subaru Wagon with Kayaks
1975 BMW R60/6 Motorcycle
Numerous bicycles – ridden daily
Currently drive a 2006 Dodge Charger R/T and just sold my 1979 Pontiac Firebird.
I drive a 2003 Toyota MR-2 Spyder for fun and gas mileage and a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport-Trac when I need the room and can afford it.
I have a family of seven and a penchant for German cars. Unfortunately, with a single income Volkswagen is the only realistic choice…not that that’s a bad thing at all
I Drive an ‘03 Eurovan (Family Car) and an ‘01 Passat GLX Wagon (Everything Else Car).
I’m blessed in the car category
I have a 2006 Ford Focus Station Wagon. Ford no longer makes the wagon in the Focus series. I love the gas mileage but wish it had ABS. Living in Upstate NY, ABS is a mighty handy feature to have.
2000 Honda Civic 4 door sedan (value package). Supercharged, hondata chips, d16 motor (original), auto tranny (level ten torque converter w/ cooler), SI rims. true sleeper and I love it as a 50 yr. old guy. If gas could go up to $6.00/ gallon, I’m still safe, otherwise I’ll jumsp on to my ‘07 kawasaki ninja>
2007 Mustang GT conv
2001 BMW Z3
Fun, and both can do as well as a V6 sedan – IF you keep your foot out of the gas pedal.
Boat hauler – 2001 Ford F250 Diesel – 140,000miles.
2003 MINI Cooper S
1965 Austin Moke
1999 Fleetwood motorhome
2002 Honda CRV -mine
2004 Toyota Camry – my wife
2005 Honda Element – sons
2006 Honda Element – another son
2007 Toyota Sienna – grandchild carrier
2008 Scion Tc – daughter
Love them all, just change the oil and the last daughter takes the train
My wife and I both like a bit of power. I have a 2005 Caddy SRX AWD with a Northstar and my wife has a 2004 Subaru Forrester Turbo. We also have a weekend toy, a 39 Chevy street rod w/ over 400 hp. Gas prices may be high, but that’s the cost of fun!
I drive a, uh, 1999 Chrysler Concorde. (seems i’m the only Concorde driver here) It’s white, it’s basic and the A/C isn’t working. Dosen’t have a CD player, the speakers are pretty crappy, but it’s got a V6 and that baby goes! I get about 30 MPG, but I’m not a pedal-to-the-medal driver, when I get there, I get there. The end.
Hopefully soon (within the next oh, 5 years.) I’ll get me a Jeep Wranger (I don’t care what year, I don’t care what color. Just as long as it’s got a soft top.) but I’m 16, I’m broke, and theres a Jeep for sale down the road from me(4cylinder, manual, black, soft top, custom interior, CD player…*cries*) my life sucks.
Mine: 2008 Smart Passion Coupe, 2006 Suzuki Burgman Executive.
Hers: 2002 Mazda Miata
Ours: 2008 Suzuki Grand Vitara, 1993 Ford F-150 XLT
Home away from home: 2002 Gulfstream Yellowstone Country Club motorhome.
We have a 2003 Honda Civic that we love. And bought in March an 08 Element that we like a great deal. Just wish it got mileage comparable to the Civic!
1995 Ford Windstar LX modified for a wheelchair passenger and driver.
I like things that are different and are fun. My wife and son share my same interests. My driveway and garage presently have:
1) 1976 Jag XJ6 with a 350 Chevy and turbo 350 trans, courtesy of a kit I got from John’s Cars. I did the engine swap in 1984 and my wife still likes the car. (If only GM made the AC system).
2) 2001 Celica GTS 6 speed, in Prowler yellow with all TRD equipment. This belongs to our son (who drives a P71 Crown Victoria with a lot of lights and antennas while he’s on duty and then moves into a black 2005 SE Maxima 6 speed).
2) 1996 Impala SS with a 6 speed manual. Someone in MD came up with a kit to put the Camaro T56 trans into the 94-96 Impalas. The conversion makes for a very fast, fun ride. Unfortunately, my wife has hated the look of the car since I bought it two years ago, so I’m going to put it on Ebay.
3) My wife loves Miatas and her favorite one so far is the 6 speed Yellow 2002 SE that she has. It just turned 20k and we’ll probably have it for a while. She is proud of her 35mpg.
4) My other toy is a red 2003 350Z 6 speed convertible. Nissan didn’t make a convertible in 2003, and this one was converted in CA. This is an amazingly quick, competent ride.
4) The “practical” vehicles are Jeep Cherokees. We have a 96 Sport with 18k, and two 2001 Sports. The 01’s have 15k and 20k. We have learned over the years that these are great vehicles for Colorado winters. We’ve had new SUV’s but we keep going back to the Cherokees.
A couple more firsts for the list…
1992 Volvo 740 wagon, 183k (mine, but recently deceased). Got about 20 all in town short trips
1992 S-10, 109k was my hauler, now in dire need of new owner. High teens in mixed driving.
2002 Pontiac Montana, 80k. About 20 around town have topped 27 on the highway (averaging 65+ with AC on) was wife’s, now my daily since I bought her a…
2008 Mazda 3 5-speed. The best all around 5 speed 4 door we could find equipped the way we wanted, otherwise it would be a Cobalt XFE. Too new to average mileage, but she did get about 25 mostly in town.
Best car I ever owned:
1996 Saturn SL2
Honorable mentions:
2000 Chevy Malibu LS
1994 Pontiac Grand Am SE (with 3.1 V6)
the Montana
Worst:
2000 Saturn LW2 (wouldn’t have been so bad if I didn’t have problems with the dealer and Saturn)
I drive a 1966 Dodge Charger. My wife drives a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica.
1998 pontiac bonnie,( wifes car)bout 26 mpg in town , mine is a 1997 olds aurora V-8 28 mpg hiway 34 city, and my baby ,1968 chevelle ss 396 who cares about milage bought it new going to be buryed in it hahaha
My car:1994 Bronco xlt BEST TRUCK EVER!
I got mad as hell that the fat cat’s are stealing $trillions of $ from us, and we’re not getting anything for it. I decided before they take any more of MY money, I’d spend it!! I traded my ‘04 LAND Rover for a ‘07 Cadillac DTS sitting on my dealers lot forever. You say but the GAS MILLAGE? Well I tell you on the highway for 250 miles at a shot I get 25 to 28 mpg at 70mph. now that’s economy. my other car is a ‘02 Chevy Avalanch, burnt orange with cladding.
I currently drive a 2007 Mercedes Benz E-350 and am very happy with the ride, safety features and millage about 28 mpg highway.
I had my first test drive in a luxury car in 2000 a BMW 525 which I bought then. I also owned a Lexus ES 300 for four years but was not happy with the acceleration lag and floaty ride.
The MB E-350 is a perfect balance.
2008 Nissan Altima 2.5SL
2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon
Eric (comment 171), telling us that you drive a 66 Charger and not telling us what engine is in it, is like telling us that you were an Air Force flyer and not telling us what you flew!
We currently have 2 cars in our driveway and love them both.
2007 Honda Accord LX 4cyl (blue) – great mileage, very reliable and fun to drive!
2008 Mitsubishi Outlander LX V6 (red) – surprising mileage for a 4wd (25+ mpg), also really fun to drive!
I drive a 1999 Chrysler 300 and a 2006 Cadillac DTS. I get 18 MPG City and 26 MPG HWY! Many small cars don’t do any better! Comfort,Luxury, performance, and quiet! No small cars or foreign cars for me!
2007 Mustang GT/CS
1965 Mustang Convertible
2001 GMC Yukon XL
Derbi Scooter
03 Buick Lesabre Celebration Edition that I bought in 06 with 12,000 mi. Great ride, 30 mpg highway.
93 GMC Yukon I bought new Dec.92. It’s been a great truck & still in excellent shape at 125,000 mi.
I used to drive my favorite yet 2005 Dodge Magnum r/t and now i drive VW 2.5 Jetta. It is a big downsize….It is rough to go down from 5.7 V8 to 2.5 5cyl…lol
Bob (Comment 169)….dont listen to your wife. LOL 1996 impala is hardcore. You will profit more if you leave it as it is for the lowest miles possible and sell it few years later. If it was me i wouldn’t sell it at all. I came close buyin 10 original k impala in West Chester, PA but unfortunately 29 grand was too pricey for my bank.
I drive a 67 VW Bug and a 69′ El Camino. Also have a 66′ El Camino in the garage about ready to paint.
im think about buying new beetle conv.wanted a limited edition. Love the 3 white 2007 but i just found out about them can I still find one?
