2009 Lexus IS 350The Lexus IS is one of those cars that I've never really taken to, despite the fact that it's been selling pretty strongly since its introduction in 2007. So I figured -- as I so often do -- that maybe the problem is me. I wanted to give the IS a fair shake, so I asked Jason Fogelson, About.com's Guide to SUVs, if he'd take a crack at test-driving the IS. As it happens, a friend of his was considering the purchase of an IS, so the timing couldn't have been better. Did Jason like the IS any more than I did? Find out in his 2009 Lexus IS 350 test drive and review. -- Aaron Gold

Good review!

Thank you for making me like the G37s Sedan even more than I already do…

I’m not a Toyota fan, and even less of a Lexus fan. Your write up makes me even less so.

I noted before how much my wife and I enjoyed driving the IS series Lexus, but for comparable money (give or take a grand or two) we could be driving a BMW 3 series…even my wife agrees that the Lexus just doesn’t cut it due to its lack of driving pricision and overall curb appeal and image.

I have a 2001 IS. Nice car but I drove the IS250 the other day and could not believe how much nicer it was than my car inside and out. Mine is a Toyota (nothing wrong with that), the new ones a true Lexus. I still can’t get over people complaining about the power in the 250? I would not cough up the extra dough just to get a little more power. The true difference between this car and many of the others you mentioned is how you will be treated by the dealer. With the lexus, they won’t see you very often. Get to know your service rep at the BMW shop pretty quick. Might as well keep him on speed dial.

My wife and I have loved this car since it’s re-do…espescially her. But for a couple of grand, we could be driving the car that absolutely defines this class of car…no way, we’d rather be driving a 3 series BMW!!!

I’ve always wondered how this one would stack up against the Infiniti G and thanks for making it clear. I’ll definitely stick with my G.
