Okay, so, remember when I told you about the Internet Car and Truck of the Year, and how consumer voting closed on November 16th? Well, what I neglected to tell you in November was that the voting date has been extended. Voting actually closes tomorrow, December 11th, 2009. So if you haven't voted yet, there's still time -- vote now! As a reminder, the finalists in the consumer category -- the vehicles that you and your fellow consumers picked -- are as follows:
- Cars: Chevrolet Camaro SS, Ford Taurus SHO, Ford Shelby GT500
- Trucks/SUVs: Audi Q7 TDI, Chevrolet Equinox, Ford F-150 Raptor
The judges (one of which would be me) picked a slightly different set of finalists; I'll tell you which ones I voted for next week. The winners will be announced at this year's Chicago Auto Show in February. Now, go forth and vote! -- Aaron Gold

How about “NONE OF THE ABOVE”!!!!
I agree with LagunaMike. Had to vote for the TDi since anything that advances diesel is okay in my book, but the cars…huh?
Wow….3 whole choices for each?
Ohhh the excitement….NOT.
Yeah, there are so many cars that are so much better. I wouldn’t bother with any of these.
The three were narrowed down from a much larger field earlier in the year. Remember, Internet Car and Truck of the Year consists of two awards — consumer (you guys) and jury (journalists). Those six vehicles are the ones chosen by netizens like yourself. If you want to see a comparison of what you, the consumers chose, vs. what the journalists chose, check out these pages: cars, trucks.
If you’re not happy with the finalists, be sure you get involved early in the voting process next year! I’ll be sure to keep you posted as to when voting begins. — Aaron
And to add to what Aaron said, next year consumers will be voting from the very beginning on their choices. This year the jury (including folks like Aaron) narrowed the choices down to 7 and then netizens got involved. In 2010, you’ll be voting from the very beginning. Stay tuned…

Have to agree with the first 4 posts… Gotta like the (mostly) pro-American sentiment, and GM & Ford are certainly making headway (Malibu & Fusion), but c’mon! (And “yes” I DID vote in the preliminaries.)
Good call lagunamike!
