There are lots of things that get better with time, but new cars aren't one of them. A manufacturer introduces a new model, and with any luck, it'll be at the front of its class for a while. But then rival manufacturers come out with new models, and what was once the latest and the greatest slowly slides towards the back of the pack.
Oddly enough, that hasn't happened with the Mitsubishi Lancer. I reviewed the Lancer when it first came out in 2008, and my verdict was that it was good enough, but not really a stand-out car. Fast-forward to 2010; That very same Lancer in its third year and the competition has moved forward -- but oddly enough, the Lancer isn't at the back of the pack. If anything, it's standing aside -- and standing out. My point -- and I do have one -- can be found in my 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer ES test drive and review. -- Aaron Gold
