So here it is -- my photo gallery of the future vehicles and concepts introduced at the 2012 North American International Auto Show -- 33 vehicles in all. Click the individual photos for more detailed descriptions of each car.
Highlights of the show? Hoo-boy, that's tough, because there were a lot of good vehicles. Here are the ones I think really stand out:
- I've already professed my admiration for the domestic stand-outs -- the Cadillac ATS, Dodge Dart, and Ford Fusion.
- No doubt one of the most anticipated vehicles is the Acura NSX Concept, which shows the styling direction of Honda's upcoming mid-engine sports car.
- No less glamorous is Lexus' eye-catching LF-LC Concept.
- The micro-SUV might be the Next Big Thing, judging from the reveals of the Audi Q3 and Buick Encore, both based on subcompact vehicles.
- Chevrolet showed a pair of intriguing concept cars: The rear-drive Code 130R and the slick Cruze-based Tru 140S.
Check out my 2012 Detroit Auto Show photo gallery to get the story on all of these cars and more. The show is now open to the public, and I've updated my Visitor's Guide to the Detroit Auto Show with what I think are the must-sees of the show. -- Aaron Gold

The NSX is beautiful as is the Lexus. Both are visually exciting, but the NSX definitely has my full attention. Aaron, hurry up and arrange for your test drive of this fabled marque when it finally comes out. I can’t wait!
The domestic car makers really seem to be coming on strong this year. The Acura NSX is awesome, and their CUV looks much better than before. The large sedan looks like they bolted their ugly grille onto a Chevy Cruze, though. Might be the angle of the shot.
The Chevy coupes are odd. I like the 140. It looks somewhat like the Opel Astra coupe. The 130 looks like the offspring of a Camaro and a BMW 1 series coupe. It’s probably what the Camaro should have been from a size perspective in the first place.
Still like the Fusion, Dart and Cadiallac. The Lincoln leaves me cold. I personally think that Lincoln needs to do what Cadillac did and create a whole new line of stand-alone cars if they hope to compete at that level. As long as Lincoln keeps building modified Fords, they’ll be nothing more than what Mercury should have been for the past 20 years. Of course, if they only hope to compete against Buick, Acura and maybe Lexus, then maybe they’re on the right track.
Were the remaining cars so repulsive that you had to photograph cars no one can buy or ever conceive of buying? Concept after concept? I guess these cars interest you but I personally would like to see cars that will be at my local auto dealer soon.

Fantastic new Q3 by AUDI. Brilliant car great looks and looks even better then the Q5! Great I only hope they will offer the 3 L TDI diesel engine too. That would be the ideal for me
