2012 Readers' Choice Awards: Nominations are now open!

By , About.com Guide   January 18, 2012

Follow me on:

About.com 2012 Readers' Choice AwardsYou've seen my picks for the Best New Cars of 2012 -- now it's your turn! The Readers' Choice Awards are back, and it's time to nominate your favorite cars.

We have five categories this year:

  • Best family car
  • Best performance car
  • Best car for teens
  • Best car under $16,000
  • Best new car of 2012

Nominations are open now through February 15th. Once I tally up the nominations, you'll get to vote on the five finalists in each category. Voting will close on March 21st, and I'll announce the winning cars on March 30th.

We've got a new nomination form this year, and you can now nominate up to three cars in each category. A couple of quick notes on the categories:

  • Best Performance Car is new this year. I'll leave this one open to interpretation -- whatever your idea of a performance car is, go ahead and nominate it.
  • The Under $16,000 category is open to cars with a sticker price (MSRP) starting at $16k or less. You'll find most (but not all) of the eligible cars on my Least Expensive Cars of 2012 list.
  • The Best New Car category is open to cars that have been redesigned, facelifted, or extensively updated for the 2012 model year. You'll find most of the eligible cars in my What's New for 2012 gallery.
  • Best family car and best car for teens are pretty self-explanatory.

Ready? Then it's time to nominate! Please use this nomination form.

Please note: You must log in with either an About.com or Facebook username in order to submit your nomination. (We do this in order to detect and prevent automated submissions.)

Thanks for participating in the 2012 Reader's Choice Awards! -- Aaron Gold
