One of the problems with being the Cars guy at About.com is that I have trouble keeping up with the SUV/CUV side of the business. In order to keep a little balance, Jason Fogelson, our Guide to SUVs, and I like to trade assignments from time to time. We did a couple this month, including the 2014 Mazda CX-5 2.5. It's kind of funny -- Mazda introduced the CX-5 in 2012 as a new-for-2013 model; now here we are, less than two months into 2013, and the 2014 is already out. The big change is a 2.5 liter engine for the upper models, replacing the 2-liter that was standard across the board this year... sorry, I mean last year. The 2-liter CX-5 is a bit on the anemic side, so Jason sent me out to see if a more powerful engine solved that problem -- but of course, I couldn't quite keep my opinions about the rest of the vehicle to myself. Check out my 2014 Mazda CX-5 2.5 review. -- Aaron Gold

Interesting car. Although I’m quite tired of CUVs, they are the modern station wagon whether I like it or not. My wife’s Pacifica has 124K miles on it, so we’re beginning to think about replacements at some point in the next few years. This is one of the few that I like. Will be interesting to start the shopping process.
Eric, just drove a Pacifica the other day. It is a nice “comfortable” ride. Too large for my tastes, but the owner bragged about no issues in 100k miles. That’s nice to hear about a Chryco.
