When we tested the previous model we really liked it. Sightlines were superb and the car was an ideal size, in and out. The 2004 Lexus ES 330 has grown in all dimensions, which should satisfy those folks to whom interior space is important. The added height also makes entry easier. But it's less a driver's car than it once was. On the other hand, the 225 hp engine moves the ES 330 at a great pace and does it smoothly, thanks in part to the superb 5-speed transmission. The ride is smooth, too, but an optional AVS suspension lets you choose between comfort, sport, and intermediate settings. As an upmarket family sedan, it succeeds without exciting.
