Snapshot:

When the world thinks sports car, the name Corvette still sits at the top spot. This rear-wheel-drive sports car is as versatile as its reputation is strong and it's available as a coupe, hatchback or convertible.

How Much?:

Price for a 2004 Chevrolet Corvette in the US ranges from $44,635 to $52,985.

The Inside Story:

The interior... ugh, the interior. You'll find all the standard amenities in here but the look... No side or head airbags are available though hopefully you won't need them thanks to standard anti-lock brakes, traction and stability control.

Under the Hood:

Two engines (both V-8s; your choice is dictated by body style) produce between 350 and 405 horsepower. While the bigger engine offers a lot of power you can get near 30 highway miles to the gallon if you use a manual transmission (same with the smaller engine).

Transmissions:

A four-speed automatic or six-speed manual tranmission is available.

Warranty:

Bumper-to-bumper and powertrain: 3 years/36,000 miles.

Should You Buy a 2004 Chevrolet Corvette?:

The Corvette is undergoing a major makeover for 2005 so this model year (2004) is the last of what you see here. If you must have the latest it's best to wait. What the changeover doesn't change is that the 2004 is still a great sports car at a bargain price. If the value Chevy has put into the Corvette was applied to their other cars, Chevrolet would be the number one seller. Simply put, the 2004 Chevrolet Corvette is one heck of a sports car.
