Snapshot: The S2000 is a small, 2-door, convertible sports car noted for its high-revving 4-cylinder engine and taut handling. Rear-wheel-drive.
How Much?: Prices for a 2004 Honda S2000 in the US start at $33,260.
The Inside Story: Talk about Zen. There's nothing here. Well, just what you need and no more. You get a spartan interior that only has front airbags. No side airbags, traction control or stability control. Oh, there is a radio... for whatever reason.
Under the Hood: A terrific four-cylinder producing 240 horsepower from just 2.2 liters. Expect to get 20 city/25 highway, which is low for a four-cylinder, but remember, this is a performance engine not a light-sipper.
Transmissions: A manual transmission is all that's offered with the S2000.
Warranty: Bumper-to-bumper and powertrain: 3 years/36,000 miles
Should you Buy a 2004 Honda S2000?: Some say Japanese cars have no soul. And if you drive Camrys and Corollas all day it's hard to argue the point. But one push of the S2000's "Engine Start" button and all of that theory goes out the window. This car shows the years of Honda's racing experience. In fact, one drive in the S2000 and you'll wonder what all the other manufacturers are doing wrong. The Honda S2000 is closer to a race car than any affordable (non-exotic) roadster available today. If you can deal with a spartan interior, the S2000 is the car for you.
