Snapshot:

The 2004 Kia Rio and 2004 Kia Rio Cinco are essentially the same except that the Rio is a sedan, the Cinco (known as the RX-V in Canada) a station wagon. Both are inexpensive to buy and run but the Cinco is more practical. Prices start at $9,740 in the US, $12,650 in Canada. Basic warranty is 5 yrs./60,000 mi.; powertrain is 10 yrs./100,00 mi.

Should You Buy a 2004 Kia Rio?:

Both these economy cars are attractive but the more costly 2004 Kia Cinco wagon is exceptionally good-looking and well-equipped for the price. A fairly high roofline makes them easier to enter and exit and contributes to a roomy interior, though rear legroom is a bit tight for tall passengers. Power comes from a 1600 c.c, 104 hp, twin-overhead-cam engine with a 5-speed manual transmission standard, 4-speed automatic optional. The 2004 Kia Rio and 2004 Kia Cinco enjoy the nimble handling of all small cars, though they're obviously not designed for canyon charging. These smart, honest, family cars are all about value for money, backed by a lengthy warranty. We'd certainly opt for the 2004 Kia Cinco's practicality and smart looks but if you're seeking basic transportion at low cost, the 2004 Kia Rio's a dependable choice.
