Snapshot :

The 2004 Pontiac Sunfire, a 2-door coupe (also available as a 4-door sedan in Canada), is aimed at a young market. The 2.2 liter 4-cyl. engine produces a respectable 140 hp, with 150 lb.-ft. of torque. A GT version offers a sportier look and feel. Prices start at $14,930 in the US, $15,995 in Canada. Basic warranty is 3 yrs./36,000 mi, powertrain is 5 yrs./60,000 mi.

Should You Buy a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire?:

GM has managed to squeeze a lot of years from this ageing platform, but occasional updates have kept the 2004 Pontiac Sunfire looking stylish. The twin-cam Ecotec engine delivers good performance, especially when teamed with the 5-speed Getrag automatic transmission. There's nothing exotic about the suspension system, therefore it's no surprise that handling is only average for a sporty-looking coupe. The trunk is reasonably spacious, a 60/40 pass-through allows large objects to be carried. You can be pretty certain of getting a substantial discount on the 2004 Pontiac Sunfire, for its days are surely numbered. So the purchasing question comes down to whether you'll accept a dated, though handsome, coupe in order to buy at a cash-saving price.
