Under the Hood: The sole engine this year is a 4.5 liter 275 hp Northstar V-8. With 300 lb.-ft. of torque, it offers more than enough performance for any situation.
Transmissions: A 4-speed automatic is it. As compensation you do get Cadillac's CVRSS automatically variable suspension to soak up the bumps while maintaining stability during spirited driving.

Should You Buy a 2004 Cadillac 5 Series?: In its last year of production, this most handsome of all Cadillacs will be replaced by an edgy rear-drive STS in 2005. So if you like the traditional look of the Seville, along with the obvious advantages of front-wheel-drive, better buy now. Chances are you'll get a tantalising offer from just about any Cadillac dealer. We still like the Seville for its restrained appearance and healthy performance but unfortunately it's stuck with a 4-speed transmission when everyone else has gone to a 5-speeder. If you don't give a whit about such things, the 2004 Cadillac Seville is a fine car at what may be a bargain price.
