I receive carloads of email, and unfortunately I just don't have the time to respond to it all. If you have questions relating to cars and car buying, please check the FAQ below first. You can also ask your question on the About Cars Forum.

Post to the Forum

I read the About Cars Forum regularly; chances are there are hundreds of people who have the same question you do, so I'd prefer to answer it in public. (Besides, the Forums are easier for me to read, as I don't have to wade through tons of spam.) By using the Forums, you'll also benefit from the knowledge of our Sysop, Alan Powell, and other About Cars readers.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q. What kind of car should I buy?

A. It depends. If you're still trying to put together a "short list", our Top Picks page is a good place to start. You'll find an index of our test drives here, and a list of profiles (quick overviews) here.

Q. Where do I find truck and SUV reviews?

A. Truck and SUV reviews can be found on the About Trucks site. Many of these reviews are written by the About Cars team.

Q. How do you get cars for review?

A. The automakers keep fleets of cars specifically for members of the press to evaluate. Either we request the car from them, or they contact us and ask us to review a specific model. They also put on launch programs to introduce new models. Some automakers keep only the latest-and-greatest in their press fleets, while others have one of everything; we're limited by what they have available, so if you're looking for a review of a specific car, try checking earlier years.

Q. Can I contribute a review of my own car?

A. Yes! We have a special section on the forum for owners' reviews. This is especially helpful for your road testers as well as our readers, as we only get to drive the cars for a few days at a time; you know what it's really like to live with the car long-term.

Q. Can I request that a specific car be reviewed?

A. Sure. Send me an email with the words "Review Request" and the name of the car in the subject line. I try to arrange our reviews a few weeks in advance; if the car you want to read about is available to us, I'll do what I can. You can also ask for opinions in the About Cars Forum.

Q. What do I do if I find an error or a bad link in an article or a review?

A. Please let me know. Send me an email with the word "Error" in the subject line. Don't forget to include the link to the article.

Q. Can I give you suggestions about points you should cover in your reviews?

A. Please do. Send me an email with the word "Suggestion" in the subject line.

Email Your Guide

Like all the About guides, I am a real human being; you can email me at cars.guide@about.com. Please bear in mind that I get a lot of email, so I may not be able to respond personally, but unless your email is trying to sell me Viagra or tell me how to make a million dollars per week in my spare time using only a pencil and some Scotch tape, I will read it.
