BMW also showed its i8 concept, a future coupe that uses a 170 hp electric motor to drive the front wheels and a 220 hp twin-turbo 3-cylinder gasoline engine to drive the rears, resulting in true sports-car performance. As with the i3, BMW says a version is planned for production, arriving in 2013 or 2014.
