2013 Subaru BRZ review

Think of this as Part Two of my Scion FR-S review. The BRZ and the FR-S were designed jointly by Toyota and Subaru (mostly by Subaru, actually), and while there are slight differences in trim, suspension tuning, and price, the two cars are nearly identical -- and identically excellent. Which one you should buy? Read on. 2013 Subaru BRZ: Tested and reviewed by Aaron Gold, your Guide to Cars at About.com.

2013 Scion FR-S review

The 2013 Scion FR-S is the result of what may be the strangest pairing in automotive history: Toyota, the automaker that has raised dull and conservative an art form, and Subaru, known for completely disregarding what the rest of the industry is doing. The product of this bizarre union is a car that plays to neither of their strengths: A rear-drive sports coupe, sold by Toyota as the 2013 Scion FR-S. Can such a strange union yield a good vehicle? Read on.

2012 BMW 328i Sedan review

BMW has redesigned the 3-series for 2012 -- not that you'd know it from the photos. Although it looks like its predecessor, the new 328i is bigger, lighter, and motivated by a high-tech 4-cylinder engine. So does it live up to the 3-series' lofty reputation? Read on. 2012 BMW 328i: Tested and reviewed by Aaron Gold, your Guide to Cars at About.com.

OnStar FMV review

You've probably heard of General Motors' OnStar system -- perhaps you've seen (or heard) the commercials in which an OnStar operator talks to a car that has just been in a crash, locating the vehicle and sending help. What if you want the protection of OnStar, but don't want to buy a brand-new GM car just to get it? Well, that's the idea behind OnStar FMV ("For My Vehicle"), an add-on for late-model cars and trucks. Does it work as well? Read on.

2012 Buick Regal GS Automatic review

I am not the type of parent who pushes my kids to get straight As; I just encourage them to do the best they can. I try to be the same way about cars, but when Buick revived the Gran Sport nameplate for the 2012 Regal, I had the highest expectations -- based both on the history of Buick performance (GS 455 or Grand National, anyone?) and recent GM performance cars like the Cadillac CTS-V. I was expecting a perfect A+ -- did the 2012 Buick Regal GS deliver? Read on.

2013 Dodge Dart review

It seems ironic that Chrysler is affixing the Dodge Dart name from their storied past to a product that represents their future. The 2013 Dodge Dart is the first all-new vehicle designed under the stewardship of new owner Fiat. Chrysler's goal was to take the underpinnings of an Italian car and adapt it to the wants and needs of American buyers -- so have they done it? Read on. 2013 Dodge Dart: Tested and reviewed by Aaron Gold, your Guide to Cars at About.com.

2013 Acura ILX review

Acura's product line has gotten a bit bizarre these past couple of years, but now they are introducing a compact sedan called the ILX, which seems like a good idea given the way gas prices are skyrocketing. So is the ILX the car that will get Acura back on track? Probably not. Read on. 2013 Acura ILX: Tested and reviewed by Aaron Gold, your Guide to Cars at About.com.

2012 Volvo C70 Inscription review

The Volvo C70 is heading into its 7th year with an all-new limited-run model called the Inscription. But can the C70 still chew the fat with newer, younger convertibles? Read on. 2012 Volvo C70 Inscription: Tested and reviewed by Aaron Gold, your Guide to Cars at About.com.

2013 Ford Taurus SHO review

The SHO is the twin-turbo hot-rod version of the Taurus, now updated and improved for 2013. SHO is a famous Ford name -- so does the 2013 Taurus SHO deserve to wear it? Read on. 2013 Ford Taurus SHO: Tested and reviewed by Aaron Gold, your Guide to Cars at About.com.

2012 Hyundai Azera review

I've been a fan of the Hyundai Azera since it made its debut in 2006, but the Azera has never been a hit with the public. For 2012, Hyundai has given the Azera a complete re-do, and now it's the car that it always should have been -- handsome outside, posh inside, loaded with standard features, and priced so low that you'll wonder if one or more of Hyundai's accountants have a drinking problem. 2012 Hyundai Azera: Tested and reviewed by Aaron Gold, your Guide to Cars at About.com.

2012 Volvo C30 R-Design Polestar review

Welcome to my review of the 2012 Volvo C30 R-Design with the Polestar Performance Package. Yep, you read that right: Polestar. Now, I know what my male readers are thinking about the name Polestar. Yes, there is a very obvious joke, and no, I am not going to go there. Accuse me of dancing around the issue if you like, but I'm going to focus on my job, which is to strip the C30 down to its bare essentials. 2012 Volvo C30 R-Design Polestar review: Tested by Aaron Gold, your Guide to Cars at About.com.

2012 Mazda3 review

I went into my test drive of the 2012 Mazda3 thinking that my old favorite would get even better. And in many ways, it did -- but I'm also really disappointed with some of the changes. Let's take a closer look at what the 2012 Mazda3 gets right -- and where it goes wrong. 2012 Mazda3: Tested and reviewed by Aaron Gold, your Guide to Cars at About.com.

2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe review

The Genesis Coupe is a rear-wheel-drive sports car that Hyundai introduced in 2010, and they got it just about perfect from the start. I know a few people that bought 'em and they are all as happy as can be. I bet when they see the improved 2013 version, they ain't gonna be quite so happy. 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe: Tested and reviewed by Aaron Gold, your Guide to Cars at About.com.

2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 review

This is the new 580 horsepower Camaro ZL1, powered by a supercharged 6.2 liter V8. But the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is more than just a muscle car with a big engine -- it's been tuned for the track. How well does it all work? Read on. 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1: Tested and reviewed by Aaron Gold, your Guide to Cars at About.com.

2012 Hyundai Equus review

When Hyundai introduced their flagship Equus last year, reviewer Jason Fogelson wrote that "Hyundai is not Mercedes-Benz or BMW. Hyundai isn't even Lexus... yet." For 2012, Hyundai has updated the Equus -- so is it ready to take on the world? Read on. 2012 Hyundai Equus: Tested and reviewed by Aaron Gold, your Guide to Cars at About.com.

2012 Mercedes-Benz C250 Coupe review

I've never been a big fan of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, particularly the current version, which made its debut in 2008. When I heard the C was getting a facelift for 2012, I didn't expect things to get much better. Man, was I wrong. 2012 Mercedes-Benz C250 Coupe: Tested and reviewed by Aaron Gold, your Guide to Cars at About.com.

2012 Kia Soul review

“evolution, not revolution.” I truly hate to use it. It hurts my fingers just to type it. Unfortunately, I can't think of any better way to describe the 2012 Kia Soul. The Soul has been a favorite of mine since its 2010 introduction, thanks to its unique styling, utilitarian interior, good driving dynamics, and excellent value-for-money. Kia has updated the Soul for 2012, and as much as I hate to use the phrase -- goodness knows I've searched for a better one -- the new Soul is... ugh... better than ever.
