What ever happened to cheap wheels? We've put together a list of the least-expensive cars sold in the US for 2008 (MSRP [sticker price] plus destination fee), and identified which ones are deals and which ones aren't worth the money.
11. 2008 Suzuki Forenza, $14,874
Essentially a sedan version of the Reno, the Forenza is strong on standard features but weak on driver appeal and safety equipment. Also available as a handy station wagon for $900 more.
12. 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt LS coupe/sedan, $14,885
The oft-overlooked and underrated Cobalt offers 2-door coupe and 4-door sedan body styles at the same reasonable price, which includes air conditioning. And it's better to drive than you might expect.
13. 2008 Suzuki SX4 Sport, $14,895
The pint-sized SX4 Sport 4-door sedan offers lots of power, lots of space, and lots of equipment for the price. An even better deal is the SX4 hatchback, which gets all-wheel-drive for $500 more.
14. 2008 Dodge Caliber SE, $14,900
Though it's a bit sparse when it comes to creature comforts, the Caliber is my cheap cargo-hauler of choice thanks to its mini-wagon body style and big cargo bay lined with hard, durable plastic.
15. 2008 Ford Focus S Coupe, $15,065
The 2-door Focus comes with six airbags, air conditioning, and just as much back seat room as the 4-door sedan, plus it's fun to drive and gets good gas mileage.
