Four-cylinder Optimas are motivated by a 2.4 liter powerplant producing 161 horsepower and 163 lb-ft of torque. The engine has dual overhead cams and 16 valves, but it lacks variable valve timing as found in many of its competitors. This gives it a shortage of low-end torque, but once the revs climb the power is pretty good.
