ECLIPSE COUPE: A new SE package, available with either the 4-cylinder or V6 engine, comes with a unique body kit, big wing, lower-body tape stripe and dressed-up interior as well as electronic stability control.
ECLIPSE SPYDER: The convertible version of the Eclipse gets three new paint colors, a tire pressure monitoring system, and new 18" wheels for GT models.
ENDEAVOR: Mitsi's big SUV adds a host of new standard equipment, including antilock brakes, electronic stability control, a power steering oil cooler, and updated interior trim including available two-tone leather upholstery.
GALANT: The GTS version is gone, leaving the Galant Ralliart as the only six-cylinder Galant (DE and ES models get a four-cylinder engine). A tire pressure monitoring system is now standard on all Galants.
LANCER: Completely redesigned for 2008, the new Lancer gets a new, more aggressive look that stands in stark contrast to the conservative outgoing model. The familiar 2.0 liter engine has been modified with a variable valve timing system that pushes output to 152 hp, and a continuously-variable transmission (CVT) replaces the conventional automatic transmission. The new Lancer is available in DE, ES and GTS models.
LANCER EVOLUTION: The latest Evo will lose its Roman numerals and be known simply as the Lancer Evolution rather than the Evolution X. Though final specs have not yet been announced, the output of its 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is estimated at 295 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. The Evo's all-wheel-drive system features an active center differential and Active Yaw Control rear differential; "Sport" antilock brakes and electronic stability control are also standard. The GSR model will offer a 5-speed manual transmission while the MR will come with a 6-speed Twin Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission, similar in operation to Volkswagen's DSG. The MR also gets Eibach springs and Bilstein shocks, two-piece brake rotors, and BBS forged-alloy wheels.
OUTLANDER: A 2.4 liter four-cylinder engine with a continuously-variable automatic transmission (CVT) replaces the V6 in the entry-level ES model. The Outlander's optional navigation system can now take carpool/HOV lanes into account when setting up a route -- an industry first.
