Rating: 3/5
The short cusions and lack of thigh support made the front seats feel as if they were two sizes too small. Still, I found them comfortable. There's no height adjustment, but the low dash and mile-high roof make the xB comfortable for drivers short and tall.
INTERIOR MATERIALS AND STORAGE
Rating: 5/5
The glove box has just enough room for the owner's manual, but the xB's interior has more storage cubbies than a kindergarten classroom. One can't expect Waldorf Astoria-like accommodations in a car this cheap; considering its base price I thought the xB's interior plastics and fabrics were of quite good quality.
INSTRUMENTS AND CONTROLS
Rating: 5/5
The xB's most unusual feature is its center-mounted instrument pod containing a speedometer and tiny fuel gauge and rev counter, idea being that the driver doesn't have to take her eyes as far from the road. It's odd at first but I got used to it quickly. Everything else is well-placed and works with Toyota-like precision, with the possible exception being the stereo: It's multitude of buttons make it difficult to operate without taking one's attention off the road.
