C30: This small sporty coupe recalls the Volvo P1800 of the '60s and '70s, reviving that car's most prominent design feature, a large one-piece glass tailgate. The C30 has the same 103.9" wheelbase as the S40 sedan but is 8.5" shorter. Power comes from a 218 horsepoewr turbocharged 5-cylinder engine.

C70: The C70 retractable-hardtop convertible gets a bump in horsepower from 218 to 227, laminated oak in place of last year's aluminum interior trim, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter and a few other interior improvements.

S40: Volvo's smallest sedan gets a minor facelift plus some interior improvements, including a redesigned center console with a storage bin now large enough for ten CDs. A tire pressure monitoring system is now standard, as is an auxiliary input jack for the stereo (guess you won't need to lug around those ten CDs after all). Volvo's Blind Spot Information System is available as a standalone option. T5 models see horsepower increased from 218 to 227 as well as additional standard equipment.

S60: The hot-rod S60R has been discontinued, as has the manual-transmission version of the S60 T5 -- all S60s are now automatics. CD players can now read WMA files, the S60 T5 gets more standard equipment, and option packages have again been shuffled and simplified.

S80: Introduced as an all-new model last year, the S80 gets a new trim level with a new engine, the all-wheel-drive S80 T6, which slots between the front-drive six-cylinder S80 3.2 and the all-wheel-drive S80 V8. The T6 gets a turbocharged 3.0 liter inline six-cylinder engine with an output of 285 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.

V50: The V50 wagon gets similar updates to its sedan cousin, the S40.

V70: An all-new V70 wagon is expected for 2008, but Volvo has not yet released details, choosing for now to focus attention on the new XC70.

XC70: Volvo's crossover SUV is all new for 2008. Highlights include a 235 hp 2.4 liter inline six-cylinder engine, 6-speed automatic transmission, Volvo's first Hill Descent Control system, a premium stereo, and more safety equipment than you can shake a stick at. Available options include Volvo's Personal Car Communicator system which, among other things, includes a heartbeat sensor that sends a warning to the keyfob if an intruder is hiding in the car.

XC90: Volvo's big SUV gets a standard auto-dimming rear view mirror; V8 models get some improvements to interior and exterior trim.
