CONFIRMED FOR 2011:

ALL MODELS: All Toyotas now include free scheduled maintenance for 2 years or 25,000 miles, making Toyota the first non-premium brand to offer free maintenance.

4RUNNER: No significant changes.

AVALON: The Avalon gets updated styling and a new model lineup. While the top-of-the-line Limited model remains, the the XL and XLS versions have been replaced by a single Base trim level. Priced just a tad higher than last year's XLS, the Avalon Base includes leather upholstery, a sunroof, and a backup camera. EPA fuel economy estimates are up 1 MPG to 20 city/29 highway.

CAMRY: V6 models get low rolling resistance tires that improve fuel economy to 20 MPG city and 29 MPG highway, up 1 MPG from last year. Other than that, the Camry is unchanged.

CAMRY HYBRID: A revised fuel economy testing procedure means that EPA estimates change from 33 MPG city/34 MPG highway for 2010 to 31 city/35 highway for 2011.

COROLLA: (photo) The Corolla gets minor front and rear styling changes and some interior updates, including a unique steering wheel for the Corolla S. The top-of-the-line XLE model has been dropped, as has the hot-rod Corolla XRS.

FJ CRUISER: The FJ gets new stereos, steering wheel audio and telephone controls, an improved heater, and fold-down rear headrests, and the front passenger seat now slides further forward to improve rear seat access. Manual-transmission modes get a rear locking differential as standard; it remains optional on automatics. A new Special Edition model features "Army green" paint, improved off-road hardware (similar to the Off-Road Package, which, by the way, replaces last year's All-Terrain Package), and additional comfort and convenience features.

HIGHLANDER: (photo) All Highlanders get updated front-end styling and a standard 3rd-row seat with rear A/C controls. The four cylinder engine, previously only offered in the base model, is now available in the volume-selling SE trim level. All models get additional standard equipment and option choices.

HIGHLANDER HYBRID: Along with the same styling changes as the regular Highlander, the hybrid gets a larger (3.5 liter) V6 engine. Combined gas/electric power output is 280 hp and EPA fuel economy estimates increase to 28 MPG city/28 MPG highway (up from 27/25).

LAND CRUISER: No changes.

MATRIX: The Matrix gets a late start for 2011, with a mildly updated version arriving in dealerships in the spring.

PRIUS: No changes.

RAV4: A new Base Plus Extra Value package dresses up the cheapest RAV4 with a sunroof, 6-disc CD changer, roof rails, and upgraded interior and exterior trim.

SEQUOIA: No significant changes.

SIENNA: (photo) The minivan war between Honda and Toyota continues to escalate as Toyota introduces an all-new Sienna. Notable features include an available four-cylinder engine and a sport-tuned SE model.

TACOMA: The Tacoma pickup gets a host of minor changes to trim, option packages and engine/cab/driveline combinations. Among the most significant: New grilles, standard air conditioning for Regular Cab models, new T/X and T/X Pro off-road appearance packages, and more models available with a four-cylinder engine.

TUNDRA: The model lineup has been trimmed, with ten slow-selling engine/driveline/bed length combinations deleted. The 4-liter V6 gets variable valve timing, trailer sway control is now standard, and an ashtray and lighter are no longer installed at the factory. (Presumably, they will still be available at the dealership.)

VENZA: No changes.

YARIS: Hatchback models get sun-visor extensions.

BEYOND 2011:

PRIUS: Toyota is planning to create a Prius sub-brand and introduce more models in Japan, and it is likely that more Prius variants will make it to the US. First up will be an "MPV", a multi-purpose vehicle similar in size to the Mazda5 and Ford's upcoming 2012 C-Max.

REAR-DRIVE SPORTS CAR: Toyota is developing a rear-drive sports coupe based on the FT-86 concept car, which is expected to arrive at dealerships in 2012. The Toyota version will probably get a 200 horsepower turbocharged engine.

CAMRY, TACOMA, RAV4, YARIS: All are expected to get major revisions or complete redesigns for the 2012 model year.
